Tony Dungy Undecided on Retirement, Calls Brett Favre for Advice (Humor)
There are multiple reports circulating regarding Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy and a phone call he placed to New York Jets' quarterback Brett Favre.
Understandably, Dungy is struggling with the concept of retirement, and he's sought guidance from a man who's faced similar issues. Dungy has contemplated retirement at the end of every season for the last three years, and the idea of leaving the NFL becomes more difficult.
Sources close to both men confirmed the phone call took place, and shared that the two legends conversed for "well over an hour."

When asked what advice he gave Dungy, Brett Favre found a few more long-winded ways to answer the question by asking a few more of his own.
"Did I speak to Tony? Yes, I did," said Favre. "Was he confused? Well, I just told him it never gets easier...I've been playing for almost 20 years, and you know, it never gets easier to walk away. But what do I know?"
Favre did say that Dungy continues to return to football every year because he loves the game, and needs to prove something to himself.
"We just love football," continued the future Hall of Fame quarterback. "Do we want to be able to say 'That's it. This isn't what I want with my life anymore'? Yeah, of course. But winning that Super Bowl, man...it's the greatest thing ever."
Tony Dungy has made the playoffs in each of his seven seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, but he's only won the Super Bowl once. It's that issue that weighs heaviest on Dungy's reputation.
Aside from his one Super Bowl victory, Dungy's career as a head coach has been filled with postseason disappointments. His teams have been dismissed from the playoffs after seasons with high expectations regularly.
It's a problem that's followed him from Tampa Bay.
One source close to Dungy claims he reached out to Favre because he needed to know "if losing in the playoffs is what keeps [Favre] coming back."
The source went on to say that Dungy would "never feel comfortable" leaving when he believes he has "a real shot at winning every year."
Sources close to the Indianapolis Colts believe Dungy's odds to retire are 70-30.
If he does decide to retire, Colts general manager Bill Polian is rumored to be watching how the Jon Gruden situation unfolds in Tampa Bay very closely.
