National Signing Day 2012: 3 Teams That'll Rebound with 2013 Class
National Signing Day has come and gone, and a majority of the BCS teams out there have done their fair share of landing top recruits. But then there are a few respectable teams that haven't exactly done a great job at building for the future.
This could be because of conference realignment, coaching changes, tons of talent leaving the current team or just the simple fact that players had better offers on the table. Although there is one thing for sure, and that's that good programs always bounce back and will eventually get back on their feet.
Here are a few teams that could have had a better recruiting class this year, but will bounce back next year.
Penn State
1 of 3The Nittany Lions didn't exactly have a horrible class this season, but it could have been better. With the scandal and the head coaching change all happening so fast, there were several players that either lost interest in Penn State or decommitted.
Bill O'Brien isn't a bad coach and should prove that with a solid first year at the university. Then after a year, it'll be a little easier to put the past behind and actually focus on the football side of things. Penn State is too good of a program to not turn things around, and whether you like it or not, they will turn things around sooner than later.
Boise State
2 of 3Boise State is a team that recruits a lot of above-average players, but really none of them are difference makers. I'm not sure there are many players on past Bronco teams that could make many BCS rosters.
All of that could change as soon as next season, especially if Boise State ends up becoming members of the Big East and is eligible for an automatic BCS bowl bid. That's one of the things that attract top players, and it would really help this program out moving forward.
Head coach Chris Petersen is a fantastic head coach, and imagine what he could do with an actual real roster.
Kansas
3 of 3Kansas, seriously? Yes, that's right.
The Kansas Jayhawks will recruit much better next season with Charlie Weis having a year under his belt. Having a top play-caller as the head coach will attract key players to play for them, and having two former 5-star quarterbacks won't hurt either.
The future is bright for the Jayhawks, and the recruiting class will get much better the longer Weis remains the head coach.
