Liverpool FC: Some Bold Predictions for the Remainder of This Season
So, the transfer window has ended.
I confess myself disappointed with the lack of signings. However, I reinstate my belief that Kenny Dalglish knows what he's doing. It is this belief that provides the threshold for the predictions you are about to scroll through.
Luis Suarez is coming back, and so too Gerrard. Sorry? Gerrard and Suarez? Add a little bit of discipline and you've got a recipe for the Champions League.
Alright, here we go.
Andy Carroll Will Hit Double Figures
1 of 5Andy Carroll, the man who provides the face for this article, has shown us a glimpse of what he can do in his last two outings.
With Gerrard, Bellamy and Suarez all coming back and looking good, the opposition will have a lot of offensive threat to be wary about. This headache for the defence may lead to Carroll given a bit more freedom, and hopefully reaping the rewards.
Should he get the service our midfield is capable of, he will go on to score at least 10 goals in the league's remaining games.
Luis Suarez Will Receive a Red Card
2 of 5Though he is returning from an eight (plus one) match ban, there is only so much Luis Suarez's attitude can be improved. You will see no improvement with his treatment of referees, and I think he will pick up a red card sooner or later.
One for diving, and one for questioning a decision. Questioning is used as a light term.
Liverpool Will Go on to Win the Carling Cup by a Margin of Three Goals
3 of 5Liverpool have reached Wembley after what seems an eternity, and now the hardest part (including overcoming Manchester City and Chelsea) is done, Liverpool face an energised Cardiff City who will fight to make Liverpool's life as short as possible.
However, Liverpool seem to come alive in the cups; the Reds came away with victories at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium and Chelsea's Stamford Bridge, indicating some kind of spark that seems to ignite on the big occasions.
It doesn't get any bigger than Wembley.
Don't get me wrong, this final will not be a walk in the park, as some Liverpool fans seem to think it to be. There is a huge chance of an "upset" and Liverpool will have to be at their best. Having said that, Liverpool have too many big-game players like Bellamy, Gerrard, Suarez and Dirk Kuyt to falter in my opinion.
Good luck to the Reds.
And the FA Cup
4 of 5I'm going to put my life on the line here and say that Chelsea will get drawn against Liverpool, but the tie will be at Anfield. It just seems to happen that way—Liverpool and Chelsea are like magnets in that bowl. It's horrible.
Or is it?
Liverpool have a fantastic record against Chelsea and I think that should the sides meet, Liverpool will come out on top. From there, I think Liverpool will go on to meet whoever their opponents are and beat them at Wembley to complete a cup double.
But Lose out on Fourth Spot
5 of 5Now wait a sec...
No, the fact is Kenny, we will not be playing in Europe next season. Well, not in the highest tier of European football. The squad needs work, a striker that will score goals and finally end the Anfield issue.
If we had won all our games at home that we have drawn, we would be up with the likes of Manchester City and United.
I think Chelsea will qualify for Europe but Arsenal will slip into sixth behind Liverpool after defeat at the Reds' hands at Anfield in a few weeks. Next season, I am tipping Liverpool to land the fourth spot.
