WWE Superstars' 10 Best TV Show Guest Appearances

Justin EldridgeJun 7, 2018

I have a firm belief that everybody on earth is a wrestling fan. Some are proud of it (myself included), some will hide it from their friends and some don't know it.

The fact that so many wrestlers have been placed in TV shows, either as wrestlers or playing someone else, supports this belief.

The fact being that a wrestler usually plays a wrestler on these shows is a testament that professional wrestling is much more mainstream than people would have us die-hards believe.

Now that I have said my opening piece, here are what I think are the 10 best WWE Superstars guest television appearances.

Remember, I am basing this on appearances I have seen. If you have others that you feel were great, by all means leave a comment below, I would love to hear about them so I can see them, too.

Thanks for reading.

10. Vader on "Boy Meets World"

1 of 11

Vader appeared in three episodes of this family Comedy/Drama. He plays a wrestler named Frankie Stecchino Sr.

In his first appearance, he gets reprimanded by Mr. Feeny while picking up a kid in a wrestling match. He complies to put the kid down after being threatened to be called by his name "Leslie," which doesn't make sense, but is still pretty funny.

He made two other appearances on the show after Cory and Vader's 'son' became friends.

9. Lou Albano on "Lie Dtector"

2 of 11

This FOX special, up there in credibility with the likes of "Alien Autopsy" and their "unbiased news" was aired in 1998. Capt. Lou subjected to an interview while hooked up to a lie detector.

He was asked questions like "Is pro wrestling fixed?"

Lou defended pro wrestling so vehemently that his animated-ness (is that a real word?) is absolutely comical to watch.

God Bless you, Lou, for standing up for the business you so dearly loved. RIP.

8. The Hardy Boyz on "That 70's Show"

3 of 11

This episode featured many people connected to the wrestling business, and The Hardy Boyz made an uncredited appearance.

They wrestle each other in a match at an event that Red takes Eric to.

That 70's Show did an awesome job capturing that small-arena feeling and while the Hardys weren't featured prominently, I really remember that episode specifically.

7. Austin vs. McMahon on Celebrity Death Match

4 of 11

Okay, so the two don't make an actual physical appearance, as they just lend their voices to their respective characters.

I couldn't post the video here to B/R from anywhere that I found it, so the link that I found is right here:

The two don't make an appearance in the video until about three minutes in.

Bonus: Judge Mills Lane is the ref.

6. The Miz and Santino Marella on "Dinner Impossible"

5 of 11

Okay, so as well as being a wrestling nut, I am a food nut as well. I watch the Food Network religiously with my wife. Just like I am not ashamed to tell the world I love wrestling, I am just as unashamed to say I love the Food Network (mostly).

Robert Irvine must incorporate the names of finishing moves into his dishes that he prepares for 300 guests for a SummerSlam event.

Many WWE personalities were involved, including Irvine's future wife, Gail Kim; Jim Ross, Steph McMahon, and Big Show.

What took the cake for me though was when Santino and the Miz were arguing while trying to create a dish, and Santino hit Miz over the head with a whole tray of prepared food.

While this is hilarious, Irvine only has so much time to complete everything he is asked or he fails his 'mission,' therefore he was none too happy about this.

5. Edge on "Haven"

6 of 11

Haven is a Canadian-produced series based on a novel by Stephen King called 'The Colorado Kid.'

The town of Haven, Maine is a town full of 'troubled' people and the lead character, FBI agent Audrey Parker, shows up and is immune to the effects of the troubles while most others are not.

After retiring last year, Edge made several appearances on the show as Dwight Hendrickson. His character is someone who helps keep happenings that are 'too supernatural' under wraps by misdirection.

While not a major player in the show as of yet, Edge does a pretty good job and will probably return next season.

4. Bret Hart on "The Simpsons"

7 of 11

In the episode titled "The Old Man and the Lisa," Mr. Burns ends up losing his fortune due to bad investment decisions.

The bank puts Lenny in charge of the plant and sells his house to Bret to make up some of the money that he lost.

A short cameo, but awesome due to it being the Simpsons and Bret together.

3. Triple H on "Robot Chicken"

8 of 11

The second entry on this list that includes a wrestler in an animation setting.

Triple H doesn't have a large speaking part on this, mainly because it's Robot Chicken and their skits are usually very short.

However, it's still a memorable appearance just for the fact that he repeatedly smashes Dakota Fanning in the face with a chair after almost losing to her.

2. Ken Shamrock on "That 70's Show"

9 of 11

In the same episode that the Hardy Boyz were involved in, Ken Shamrock plays a wrestler from the main event of the evening.

He gets dumped from the ring and is harassed by Red and Eric. He stares them down and goes back into the ring.

Shamrock probably wouldn't have been so high on this list if it wasn't for the amazing and hilarious wig he was wearing for the show.

1. The Rock on "That 70's Show"

10 of 11

Yes, again. That 70's Show was an iconic sitcom (to me at least) and this particular episode is one of my favourites ever, due to the fact that they had wrestling incorporated into one of my favourite shows of all time.

The Rock plays the part of his father, Rocky Johnson, in the show.

Rocky wrestles a couple of midgets in the show, and plays a part in an after show segment where Red and Eric go into the wrestlers' dressing room to get Rocky's autograph.

Bonus: Ernie Ladd plays Rocky's manager.

Sorry for the quality of this video, it was the only one I could find with Rocky in it.

Conclusion

11 of 11

So there you have it, folks, my picks for the 10 best WWE wrestler guest appearances on TV.

Like I said in the opening, these are based on appearances I have seen. Please comment on ones that I have omitted that you have seen and feel should be on here.

As always, thanks for reading.
