Stefon Diggs: 5 Reasons Why the 5-Star WR Is a Better Fit at Auburn Than Florida
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs is the highest-rated recruit in the country who has not signed his letter of intent.
Diggs ranks No. 8 overall and is the No. 2 rated receiver according to Rivals.com
The 6'0", 185-pound receiver from Olney, Maryland, is now scheduled to visit Maryland. This will be the fifth campus he has visited.
Among the final five schools in the running are California, Ohio State, Maryland, Florida and Auburn.
Here are five reasons why Auburn is a better choice than Florida for Diggs.
Departure of Michael Dyer
1 of 5The sudden departure of Michael Dyer to Arkansas State has left Auburn with a huge void on the offensive side of the ball.
Onterio McCalebb will be back on offense, but the Tigers need a big playmaker on that side of the ball to help contend with the top-tier teams of the SEC.
Diggs would be huge for Auburn to help fill the opening left by Dyer.
His speed and elusiveness can be used in a number of different ways.
Dynamic Wide Receiver Duo
2 of 5Auburn already has one star receiver in senior Emory Blake, and Diggs would fit in nicely with Blake.
Blake is returning for his final season and is one of the best receivers in the SEC.
Diggs would have the perfect opportunity to learn from one of the best and give Auburn two big-play threats down the field.
Fellow 4-Star Receivers
3 of 5Auburn already has two other receivers ranked in the top 200, according to Rivals.com, and Florida does not have any.
This would give Auburn three talented freshmen receivers heading into the future, with Diggs being the best of them.
JaQuay Williams, who is rated the No. 14 receiver and No. 90 overall, and Ricardo Louis, who is rated No. 183 overall and the No. 27 receiver, could join Diggs and make up quite a group.
This trio could develop into one of the most talented in the SEC a few years from now.
Stability at Quarterback
4 of 5While Auburn does not necessarily have one of the best quarterbacks in the conference, there is a little more stability at the quarterback position there than at Florida.
The Gators lost senior John Brantley to graduation and their two freshman struggled mightily filling in last season when Brantley was hurt.
Auburn quarterback Clint Moseley is not a superstar, but is a stable starter and will have no trouble targeting Diggs next season.
Immediate Playing Time
5 of 5Auburn is not nearly as talented as it was a few years ago, and that means immediate playing time for some of its recruits.
Diggs, being the best of them all, will likely come in and start immediately.
While he could probably do the same thing at Florida, he will be guaranteed to get some serious playing time next season for the Tigers.
