Oregon Football: Arik Armstead and Bralon Addison Headline Ducks Class
Once the dust had settled, the Ducks had all of their letters of intent in and signed and they could take a look at how their 2012 recruiting class shaped up.
Despite the flirtation with the NFL, Chip Kelly kept his nose to the ground and put together a class that kept the Ducks inside of the top 20 by Rivals.com, Scout.com and ESPN.
While the overall class was great for the program, the biggest surprises were Arik Armstead, Bralon Addison and Chance Allen.
Originally, Arik Armstead was looking like he would end up at Cal or Washington but ultimately made his announcement that Oregon was his school of choice and despite his dominance on the offensive line, Kelly has stated that Armstead will play defense for the Ducks.
On the offensive side of the ball, Oregon was desperate for help at wide receiver and they got just that.
Originally believed to be a Texas A&M lean, Bralon Addison made the choice to come to the northwest and play for Oregon. Addison is currently ranked as the 18th overall wide receiver and 112th overall by Rivals.com.
To go with Addison, Chance Allen also made the choice to come play for Chip Kelly. Allen is another speedster that will help the Ducks continue to grow their depth at the receiver position.
Besides for linebacker, coach Chip Kelly and his staff do a great job of addressing the needs of the program and should be able to address the defense once again in 2013.
In the end, Kelly brought a lot of speed up to the northwest and while some players may not have been as valuable to other coaches, Kelly has a terrific understanding of what kind of players are successful in his offensive and defensive system.
Now that the recruiting season is over, fans and programs can turn their attention from the future to the present and turn their eyes towards spring practice.
