Leonard Williams to USC: Trojans Land 4-Star DT Prospect
Leonard Williams has made up his mind and signed a letter of intent to play for the USC Trojans.
According to Joel A. Erickson, Auburn beat writer for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, the 4-star defensive lineman has chosen Southern California over Auburn and Florida State. He reportedly had interest in the University of Florida as well.
The Daytona (FL) Mainland High School product is regarded as one of the top defensive line prospects in the nation and originally hails from the Golden State.
Williams stands at 6’5”, 265-pounds and has a ton of raw potential waiting to be harnessed.
He’s inconsistent right now but has immense power and plays with extreme physicality.
He was able to just throw his blockers around in high school, but will need to learn proper technique and become even stronger to dominate at the next level.
His signing is a blessing for the Trojans, who lost their verbally committed 4-star defensive tackle prospect Pio Vatuvei today.
Vatuvei shocked the program when he announced his heart was with the Washington and intends to play for the Huskies.
USC will be without Nick Perry, DeJohn Harris and Christian Tupou next season and desperately needs to bolster their defensive line.
Lane Kiffin is doing his best to sign one of the best recruiting classes in the nation while dealing with the burden of being under scholarship restriction.
They seem to be targeting both offensive and defensive lineman and have done a good job so far at landing them.
Williams is going to be a stud if Kiffin coaches him up right and helps him to add technique to compliment his brute strength.
