Why Missouri Had a Monster National Signing Day
As Missouri makes its move into the SEC, it is already off to a good start by making big moves on National Signing Day.
It is impossible to compete in the toughest conference in the nation unless you get great players. The Tigers are making sure they get those athletes with a solid class that is climbing up the rankings on the biggest day in recruiting.
The team already had a solid class coming in with offensive lineman Evan Boehm, linebacker Donavin Newsom and quarterback Maty Mauck.
However, the talent added today will help the Tigers compete in the SEC for years to come.
Pre-Signing Day Commits
1 of 2QB Maty Mauk, 4-star
Does not have great arm strength, but very accurate and mobile within the pocket.
RB Morgan Steward, 3-star
Bigger running back that is also a solid receiver out of the backfield.
RB Russell Hansbrough, 3-star
Stands at only 5'8", but is very fast. More of a big play threat than every-down back.
TE Sean Culkin, 3-star
Great size that can be a solid target in the red zone.
OT Jordan Williams, 3-star
Needs to put on more weight, but should be solid in a few seasons.
C Evan Boehm, 4-star
Very versatile player that could play anywhere on line, but best spot for future will be at center.
DT Harold Brantley, 3-star
Smaller defensive tackle that can beat interior linemen with speed.
DE Ricky Hately, 3-star
Great motor. Solid against run and pass.
DE Evan Winston, 3-star
Has ability to play inside or outside on defensive line, and could be productive at either.
OLB Torey Boozer, 3-star
Still raw at linebacker, but makes up for it with great size and athleticism.
MLB Donavin Newsom, 4-star
One of the best players in the class. Solid instincts and can play well against run or pass.
MLB Michael Scherer, 3-star
Fast for position, played running back in high school and could develop into good player.
S Ka'ra Stewart, 3-star
Good size, excels at stepping up towards the line and stopping the run.
S Chaston Cuffee, 3-star
Speedster who also runs track. Can cover a lot of ground in secondary.
S Levi Copelin, 3-star
More speed on defense, could help on special teams.
CB John Gibson, 3-star
Smaller cornerback, but makes up for it with solid coverage skills.

WR Dorial Green-Beckham
2 of 2There was no bigger news on National Signing Day than Dorial Green-Beckham committing to the Missouri Tigers.
Although the receiver had the option to play for pretty much any school in the country, he had narrowed his choice down to Missouri, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.
By deciding to stay in his home state, he give the Tigers an immediate scoring threat that can quickly become the best receiver in the nation.
Green-Beckham has great size at 6'6", but has the speed and agility of a smaller receiver.
The No. 1 overall player, according to Scout.com, will be a game-changer at Missouri.
