National Signing Day 2012: Top Commits Ready to Contribute Immediately

Wes ODonnellJun 7, 2018

The fax machines keep humming in campuses across the nation, and coaches are officially starting to expect some contributions from their newest players next season.

Some of the players who will make the biggest impact in the fall of 2012 won't be the ones we expect, but a number of the top recruits will find the field early as well.

Here are a few of the top commits who are ready to take to the field this fall and contribute.

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri

The 6'6", 220-pound receiver is a massive target and good enough to not only compete this season, but potentially dominate.

DGB will have his work cut out for him in the SEC against the defensive schemes that coaches will throw at him, but if he's ever left one-on-one, it will be a huge mistake by that defense.

He'll make noise and potentially take over the way A.J. Green and Julio Jones did in their freshman seasons in the SEC.

Noah Spence, DE, Ohio State

New Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer is known for his offensive prowess, but his top recruit is the 6'4", 245-pound Spence.

The Pennsylvanian kid was dominant at the Under Armour All-American game and will be a force immediately in Columbus.

He knows how to get after the passer, and he's going to get better with every passing week.

Deontay Greenberry, WR, Houston

The Cougars stole the 4-star receiver from the Irish at the last minute, and he'll be an immediate playmaker in a Houston offense that just graduated their three top wide receivers.

Greenberry, at 6'2", 185 pounds, is a gifted athlete, California's Mr. Football and a second-team All-American.

Shaq Thompson, S, Washington

The highly-touted and highly-controversial Thompson committed to California twice before flipping for Washington.

At 6'2", 210 pounds, Thompson has the prototype size and speed to come in immediately and make a difference.

Tee Shepard, CB, Notre Dame

The early enrollee will be able to take part in spring practices and is going to be needed in the Irish secondary.

Shepard is a top-notch cover corner with the potential to start for the next four years.
