Georgia Football Recruiting: How Good Will Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley Be?
Georgia reached the SEC Conference Championship Game last season and with several players returning, they are one of the scariest teams heading into next season. They also have one of the strongest recruiting classes this year and will soon be competing for conference championships and possible national championships.
Although there are talented players at several positions, two of the top players the Bulldogs landed this year come at the running back position. Keith Marshall is arguably the top running back in this year's class and Todd Gurley isn't too far behind him.
But just how good will the be when they take the field together? Let's find out.
Keith Marshall
1 of 3Marshall is a small back at 5'11", 190 pounds and doesn't have a lot of power to his game, although he does have a lot of acceleration. He has great field vision, finds the hole quickly and hits it. Doesn't waste much time dancing around in the backfield. He finds where he needs to go and takes off. Good luck catching him when he gets in the open field because he has great speed that very few on the football field can keep up with.
He's a home run hitter and a threat to make a big play every time he touches the football. In the SEC a player like this is needed and he will be a difference maker on offense the moment he steps on the field.
Todd Gurley
2 of 3Todd Gurley is like the complete opposite runner that Marshall is. He has above average size at 6'1", 210 pounds and can run with power when he gets going. He isn't going to burn you and blow you away with his speed, but he is a patient runner that has great instincts. Another thing that Gurley has is great hands, in high school he played the safety position as well and ended up with an interception his junior season. You have to watch him as a receiver, because he will surprise you.
Gurley may not be a speedster, but he is an athletic kid that can wear down defenses.
Prediction
3 of 3Together these backs will cause problems for opposing defenses. They both are great at what they do and they both have different running styles to keep the defense honest. Marshall will kill you with his speed and Gurley can break off big runs with his patience.
You also can't forget about running back Isaiah Crowell, who maybe didn't fulfill expectations last season, but has ridiculous upside and is a big play waiting to happen.
Together all three of these running backs will be huge the next couple of years or the Bulldogs success. This could form into another three-headed monster like LSU has with Spencer Ware, Michael Ford and Alfred Blue.
In the SEC you have to be able to run the football and if these top recruits are able to fulfill their potential, the Bulldogs will be a force to be reckoned with.
