Andrus Peat to Stanford: Cardinal Lands 5-Star OT Prospect
It came down to the final hour, but one of the best offensive line prospects in the country has made his decision.
Andrus Peat has surprised many and committed to play for the Stanford Cardinal, according to ESPN.
It was a fierce battle that originally featured almost 30 teams that had offered him a scholarship, but he narrowed it down to Florida State, Nebraska, Stanford and USC before making his final decision.
Rivals rates him as the 32nd overall prospect and sixth among O-lineman as the very last 5-star recruit on the board.
The 6’7’’, 305-pound lineman from Corona Del Sol in Tempe, Arizona is a shoo-in for success if you go by his family background. His father was Todd Peat Sr. (an Arizona Cardinals lineman for six years), and his brother is Todd Peat Jr., a 4-star recruit last year who ended up going to Nebraska.
His size is what instantly jumps off the page, as there are few players in the NFL, let alone college, that are as big as Peat. His athleticism and explosion off the line of scrimmage is rare, and his frame is still capable of adding more bulk. His long arms and terrific footwork make him elite. It’s hard to imagine a situation where Peat doesn’t have an illustrious collegiate career.
He was a dominate defensive end in high school as well so it remains to be seen if TEAM X might try and convert him into a pass-rusher, but more than likely he will stick to the O-line, where he can make an impact instantly.
This is a huge day for Stanford, as they have now found an outstanding talent who can contribute right away and eventually be one of the best in the entire nation by his senior year.
