Super Bowl Commercials 2012: Jerry Seinfeld and Friends Score Big in Acura Ad

Michael DixonJun 7, 2018

Say what you will about Jerry Seinfeld, but the man clearly knows value.

That's why he was willing to go to all ends of the earth to be the first man to own the Acura NSX.

Seriously, watch for yourself.  The man he was negotiating with clearly knows how to get the most out of a deal.

But after being offered all of that—the Soup Nazi, the last living munchkin, a killer speedboat, and the opportunity to own not one, but two dancing monkey holograms—all he really wanted was a jetpack?

Is the ability to fly from New York to Los Angeles in 20 minutes really worth all of that?  I think not!

A cross-country flight isn't that bad anymore.  Sure, it would be nice to be able to make the trip in 20 minutes, but it's not worth everything that Seinfeld was offering.

Not even close.

This is like a general manager passing up on a good package of young players because someone swept in at the last minute with some past-his-prime superstar.

It may bring plenty of glitz, but very little long-lasting substance.

The fact that Seinfeld was offering so much clearly shows how much he wants the car.

While we're on that subject, how egotistical are these celebrities?  Here's a man willing to give away some of his most prized possessions just so he can be the first to own an NSX.

Seinfeld actually owning the car was never in doubt.

Seinfeld is just one in a large group of people who have let fame and fortune go to his head.  It's truly an American tragedy.

Or, maybe it's not.

Maybe the car is just that good that no human could possibly wait to be the second.  My mind has been changed.  Who wants to be the Buzz Aldrin of the NSX?

This ad is actually one of the more clever PG commercials that I have ever seen in a Super Bowl. Anyone who remembers Seinfeld will love the Soup Nazi being brought back.

It isn't at all edgy or offensive, but the humor is certainly there, and that's Seinfeld at his best.

This will undeniably be one of the better ads to grace your television on Super Bowl Sunday.
