January Transfer Window: 7 Absolutes That Will Go Down on Deadline Day
It's that time again, ladies and gentleman.
The January transfer window will come to a close on Tuesday, but that's not stopping many clubs from attempting to strengthen their squads with last-second improvements.
Although it's been a relatively quiet window in terms of activity, there will be ample interest to see how the next couple days will shake out.
One can be sure (as in every window) that there will be a surprise or two on the horizon that few saw coming.
Let's go out on a limb and make some predictions, shall we?
Liverpool Will Purchase Marko Marin
1 of 7Due to the suspension of Luis Suarez and the deplorable form of Andy Carroll, Liverpool desperately needs a consistent scoring threat who will aid in a possible charge up the table heading into February.
A man that fits such a description is Werder Bremen winger Marko Marin.
The German international is one of the best young players in the world. He offers creativity, exceptional technical ability and wonderful vision from out on the flank.
Marin is versatile in the sense that he can play in the center effectively as a hub of distribution.
He's dually adept at using his passing ability to carve up the opponent's back line with clever through balls and cheeky touches.
The Merseyside club would be wise to make a big splash for the 22-year-old. He'd instantly become one of Pool's most dangerous players
Keisuke Honda Will Be Leaving Russia
2 of 7The extremely talented Honda looks to be on the move from Russia and into a bigger league in Europe.
Thus far, the club leading the charge to garner the services of the CSKA Moscow man is Serie A side Lazio. Honda said earlier in the week that he would welcome a move to Lazio, but that a possible deal has not yet been finalized.
A team that would be wise to a move for the Japanese international is Manchester United. Honda is incredibly creative from a central attacking midfield spot and would help to add some punch to the Man U midfield.
His Russian club has been reluctant to sell him, but if a team such as Man U makes a massive offer, it will be tough to refuse.
Steve Kean and Mick McCarthy Will Be Sacked
3 of 7In no way do I envy the heavy amount of criticism and stress that a world football manager deals with on a daily basis.
In the business, winning is everything, and if you don't win enough, sackings can be made pretty quickly.
For Mick McCarthy and Steve Kean, it looks as if their time has run up.
McCarthy's Wolves side has been not performing up to capabilities as of late and finds itself in the relegation zone. Sitting in second-to-last place is not a comforting feeling, and as a result the Wolves brass very well could make a managerial move sooner than later.
Kean's Blackburn Rovers side is currently tied with Wolves at 18 points. He's long been on the proverbial hot seat, and a move sounds as if it could be forthcoming.
No manager is adverse to disapproval, especially from a club's passionate fan base. Kean firsthand dealt with an outspoken fan and was recently involved in a scary situation stemming from the club's poor form.
Chelsea Will Sign Kevin De Bruyne
4 of 7The 20-year-old Belgian has been a staple for his club side, Genk, in the Belgian Pro League and looks to make the leap to English giant Chelsea imminently.
Employed as both an attacking midfielder and as a winger, De Bruyne will help add some youth and bite to an aging Chelsea midfield.
The youngster is quite pacy and is more than adequate with the ball at his feet. I wouldn't classify him as a maestro with his passing ability, but he's very capable at setting teammates up for quality goal chances.
His move to Chelsea has been in the cards for months but hasn't been fully completed as of now. However, I see him becoming a member of the West London side before the window is completed.
De Bruyne Represents the future for both club and his country, Belgium.
Loic Remy, Eden Hazard and Carlos Tevez Will Stay Put...until Summer
5 of 7These three marvelously talented individuals will make moves to different clubs...just not within the window.
French international Remy has been rumored to be making a move to Tottenham for quite a while. He recently shot down the possible move and will not be leaving French side Marseille until his contract is up in the summer.
Hazard has been wanted by every big club in Spain and England for multiple years. Despite the heavy interest, the reigning Ligue 1 Player of the Year has maintained his desire to stick with his club, Lille, for the entirety of this season.
The sides most linked with the dynamic Belgian include Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona and, most recently, Paris Saint-Germain.
At only 21 years old, there's no rush. He's proven himself in club football and if he chooses to stay in France until the summer, it will not diminish his value one bit. In fact, the Lille general director expects him to leave eventually.
Will there ever be an end to the Tevez saga?!
His status with Manchester City still hasn't been rectified and it looks as if it won't be until the summer. Clubs including AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan have all wanted Tevez, but no deal has been struck with Man City.
Simply put, if no completed deal has been made after months and months of negotiations with clubs, why would a deal suddenly happen within the next 2 days? Expect Tevez to be in England until the summer.
Jose Bosingwa Will Be Sold
6 of 7The talented right back is on the outs with Chelsea, after refusing to sign a deal with the West London club.
With that premise in mind, Chelsea should look to sell the Portuguese international.
PSG is a rumored target, especially with the appointment of new manager Carlo Ancelotti (who formerly managed Chelsea with Bosingwa a member of his side).
From the Chelsea point of view, why keep a member of the squad on board when he has no intention of staying at all? It's most definitely a distraction and can provide discord in the dressing room, no matter how talented Bosingwa is.
In addition, with the purchase of Gary Cahill and the emergence of both Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz, Bosingwa has become somewhat expendable.
Hugo Almeida Will Go to Sunderland
7 of 7Currently sitting in the middle of the table, Sunderland hopes to make a sprint up the ladder and position themselves nicely for success.
In order to do so, they'll have to strengthen their attacking core. Help should come in the form of Portuguese international Almeida, who's rumored to be heading to manager Martin O'Neill's side.
The Besiktas striker is unhappy with his current situation over promises over wage increases that ultimately did not come to fruition. A loan looks to be the likely scenario for Almeida.
Almeida would be a coup for Sunderland. At 6'3", he provides great size in the box and is a terror on set pieces. His aerial prowess is combined with great positioning and awareness, which often results in goal chances.
