Wisconsin Football: Three Unsigned Recruits Badger Fans Will Love on Game Day
National Signing Day is one part stock market, one part crap shoot and two parts drama.
As usual, big recruits will continue to debate the merits of their suitors until the very moment the letter of intent is signed and faxed over to a euphoric coaching staff.
Wisconsin's small but sturdy class has a few shining stars even if they are not all five-star prospects. Luckily, three players have already given the Badgers a reason to breathe easy as cornerback Hugs Etienne, running back Vonte Jackson and offensive lineman Dan Voltz enrolled early at Wisconsin.
Three yet-to-sign players in particular should make the Badger fan base proud in the years and games to come.
Bart Houston
1 of 3Bart Houston will be coming to Madison as the next great hope for Wisconsin football.
Houston represents one of the most highly-touted quarterback recruits to grace Camp Randall, and his decision to become a Badger will not be without its pressure to perform early.
Listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals, and a four-star prospect by ESPN, Houston has prototypical height standing at 6'3" and weighing 200 lbs.
His strengths include a strong arm as well as pure athleticism, which translates into great delivery and consistent accuracy. The California native was courted by West Coast powers Arizona, UCLA and Washington.
D.J. Singleton
2 of 3New Jersey safety D.J. Singleton plays on the opposite side of the ball and the opposite side of the country at Bart Houston.
Houston and Singleton do share measurements though, as the St. Peter's Prep superstar also stands 6'3" and weighs in at 200 lbs. The similarities do not end there as both players represented the West in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl.
The Rivals three-star recruit's size and strength are expected to pay big dividends when he hits the college ranks. In what position he will do that hitting is still up in the air, as Singleton could grow into a linebacker.
ESPN gives Singleton a four-star grade and notes both run support and zone coverage as the foundations of his game.
Vince Biegel
3 of 3Linebacker Vince Biegel could be considered the crown jewel of the Wisconsin recruiting class. He is considered a four-star player by both Rivals and ESPN.
Game film shows Biegel to have a nose for the ball and great lateral speed.
In fact, his style is very reminiscent of Badger star, Chris Borland, as he tears through tackles in almost reckless pursuit of ball carriers. Also like Borland, when he finds his target he rarely misses the takedown.
Biegel spurned a slew of Big Ten powers, as well as Stanford and Tennessee to don the cardinal and white for Wisconsin.
