College Football Recruiting 2012: Where the Top Uncommitted Recruits Will End Up

Danny FlynnJan 24, 2012

With just a week left until National Signing Day on Feb. 1, the rumors and chatter about many of the nation's top football recruits are really starting to heat up.

Everyone is trying their best to figure out where this year's top prospects will end up, but as always, there are likely to be plenty of surprises once the announcements start rolling in.
All we can do between now and National Signing Day is speculate, so here's a look at my predictions for where 10 of the country's top uncommitted recruits will ultimately end up.

WR Dorial Green-Beckham, Hillcrest HS (Missouri)

Schools in the running: Alabama, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas

Prediction: Arkansas

Dorial Green-Beckham is the most highly touted prospect remaining on the market, and his recruitment, which has largely remained a mystery these past few months, is at least starting to clear up a little bit as we inch closer and closer to National Signing Day.

While Green-Beckham says that he’s narrowed it down to five schools, many believe his decision will come down to Arkansas and his home-state school, Missouri.

After taking a visit to Arkansas this past weekend, it looks as if D.G.B. could definitely be thinking about joining the Razorbacks and catching passes from QB Tyler Wilson next season.

DE Darius Hamilton, Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey)

Schools in the running: Florida and Rutgers

Prediction: Rutgers

With the exception of OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers doesn't often land the top recruits from the state of New Jersey, but that could change this year, as DE Darius Hamilton is reportedly strongly considering the Scarlet Knights.

Hamilton, whose high school teammate, Leonte Carroo, is already committed to Rutgers, has the potential to become an instant impact player for Rutgers’ defense, and he would be one of the most notable members of the team the day he walks onto campus.

DT Eddie Goldman, Friendship Collegiate Academy (Washington D.C.)

Schools in the running: Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Miami

Prediction: Alabama

Eddie Goldman looks like the next Marcell Dareus, so it would only be fitting for him to play in Tuscaloosa like Dareus did.

Just like Dareus, Goldman is the type of big, versatile lineman that would be a terrific fit for Alabama’s three-man defensive line, and that dominant defensive performance in the BCS championship game had to catch his attention.

CB Tracy Howard, Miramar HS (Florida)

Schools in the running: Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Miami and USC

Prediction: Florida

Will Muschamp has coached plenty of star defenders in his coaching career, and if Tracy Howard chooses to come to Gainesville, he’ll have the opportunity to mold Howard into a star.

The Tampa native has just as much potential as former Gator Joe Haden did when he came out of high school, and he would challenge for immediate playing time at Florida.

WR Stefon Diggs, Our Lady of Good Counsel HS (Maryland)

Schools in the running: Auburn, California, Florida and Ohio State

Prediction: Ohio State

Stefon Diggs, apparently, really enjoyed his visit to Florida this past weekend, but never underestimate the recruiting powers of Urban Meyer. Diggs will take his last visit to Ohio State, and you can bet that Meyer will break out the old highlight reel of Percy Harvin, who he made into a star at Florida.

Diggs would absolutely shine as a do-everything Harvin-esque type of player in Meyer’s spread offense, and he would have the chance to be one of the key offensive weapons of the Buckeyes’ offense as just a true freshman.

WR Nelson Agholor, Berkley Prep (Florida)

Schools in the running: Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and USC

Prediction: Florida State

Florida State already has some up-and-coming stars at the wide receiver position like Rashad Green and Christian Green, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to add one of the most explosive athletes in the country, Nelson Agholor, to the mix.  Agholor could end up playing either receiver or safety at the next level, but if he chooses the Seminoles, he'll likely find himself on the offensive side of the ball.

DE Aziz Shittu, Buhach HS (California)

Schools in the running: California, Nebraska, Stanford, Texas A&M and USC

Prediction: USC

USC doesn’t have many scholarships to give away due to the sanctions imposed on the Trojans by the NCAA, but I’m sure Lane Kiffin could find room for a potential defensive difference-maker like Aziz Shittu.

The California native has shown interest in numerous Pac-12 schools, but after visiting USC this past weekend, the Trojans should be right in the mix to land his services.

QB/WR  Devin Fuller, Old Tappan HS (New Jersey)

Schools in the running: Arizona, Nebraska, Rutgers, TCU and UCLA

Prediction: Rutgers

Devin Fuller is one of the most athletic recruits in the 2012 class, and he would be a perfect fit in Rich Rodriguez’s spread offense at Arizona. However, Fuller will likely want to stay closer to home, and the Scarlet Knights will offer him that opportunity, as well as the opportunity to play early on in his career as a versatile Mohamed Sanu-type of offensive weapon.

OT Andrus Peat, Coronoa Del Sol HS (Arizona)

Schools in the running: Florida State, Nebraska, Stanford and USC

Prediction: Nebraska

This one almost seems like a slam dunk at this point, doesn’t it?

Andrus Peat has been one of the most coveted offensive tackles in the country throughout the past year, but it appears that he’ll likely end up in Lincoln, where his brother, Todd, plays.

OL Joshua Garnett, Puyallup HS (Washington)

Schools in the running: Michigan and Stanford

Prediction: Michigan

Highly touted offensive line prospect Joshua Garnett couldn’t go wrong picking either Michigan or Stanford, as they're both great academic schools who are trending upward on the football field. And it just so happens that they both have some holes to fill on the offensive line next season.

Both teams will be in the running for a conference championship over the next few years, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Garnett choose either one, as it basically seems like a coin flip, but I think Michigan suits him well. And if he signs with the Wolverines, he’ll be a favorite to take over for Mark Huyge at right tackle next season.
