3 Reasons 5-Star WR Stefon Diggs Will Choose Auburn When It's All Said and Done
It's all about recruiting now that the college football season is over with. The BCS National Championship is over, so now, teams are preparing to better their future.
One of the top prospects that is still out there is wide receiver Stefon Diggs. While he may lack size at 6'0", 185 pounds, he has great speed and is a threat to take it the distance every time he touches the football. He's also a big threat on special teams as well.
While it seems like every school is still in the running because he's keeping everything close to the vest, there may be one school he's interested in more than others.
Here are a few reasons why Stefon Diggs will become a Auburn Tiger when it's all said and done.
It's the SEC
1 of 3While there are quite a few schools that have extended offers to Diggs, only three of them are schools in the SEC. The three are Florida, South Carolina and Auburn. He's not showing much interest in the Gamecocks and was extremely interested in the Florida Gators. But the loss of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis may have really changed things for him.
That now leaves the door open for the only SEC team left, Auburn.
Top recruits want to play in the SEC because they have the best chance to win national championships and they'll be playing against some of the top competition every week. Hard to say no to something like that.
He'd Be Able to Do What He Does
2 of 3Stefon Diggs isn't really a No.1 wide receiver type. He's somebody who can make plays, stretch the field and hit the home run when the defense thinks they can cover him in man coverage. With Auburn, he'd be able to play his part, as they already landed two solid receivers in Ricardo Louis and Jaquay Williams who is 6'4". No to mention you still have Emory Blake on this team as well.
Diggs would see a lot of playing time on this team early and would be used the right way to help this Tigers team win games.
Auburn Is on the Rise
3 of 3Auburn didn't have exactly a season to brag about last year, but that's because they lost quite a bit of talent from the national championship team. Heading into next year, they have a lot of talent returning and a solid recruiting class coming in. There's no question this team is on the rise, and with Gene Chizik running the show, they'll be a top SEC team again in no time.
Besides, could you imagine quarterback Kiehl Frazier and his athletic ability and strong arm throwing Diggs' touchdown passes? It could really put this program back on top after a sub-par season last year.
