TNA's 12 Worst, Most Depressing and Stupidest Moments in 2011
When one of the top wrestlers in the company says 2011 was not the most eventful for TNA Wrestling, it has to make the company stand up and take notice.
That is what happened in an interview with Kurt Angle, this according to an article where the former Olympian and TNA World Champion appeared on Busted Open.
"When you have a written show and you present that to everybody and then they start changing things and it becomes a watered-down version of what the writer wanted in the first place. Now you don't know which way to go.
"
But if you look at the "bigger picture" of the company, there were positive as well, most involving the development of the X-Division, the creative talents of Crimson and Matt Morgan and of course the Knockouts, who proved to be as much a commodity as the men at times.
And let's not forget the rise of both Bobby Roode and James Storm as singles wrestlers and the genius of Bully Ray and Gunner.
I personally think TNA Impact was not as good as it could have been. Missed storylines, keeping younger talent down and forging on with veterans who would not relinquish hold of the spotlight made for uncomfortable viewing.
These moments in particular show there is still room to grow and develop and become the wrestling brand and program it wants to be.

12. Anything Involving Scott Steiner
1 of 12He just needs to go.
I know I sound like a broken record. Steiner is a sad story of someone holding on to something that is not there.
He has no real place in the company.
He does not wrestle well anymore. Make it stop. PLEASE.
11. Mickie James Being Run over by Tara and Madison Rayne
2 of 12This one is why wrestling is fake.
Madison Rayne had her "servant" Tara do her bidding most of the time when Rayne was feuding with Mickie James over the TNA Knockouts Title.
But in an act that can only be seen as strange, Rayne and Tara "run over" James on her motorbike, only for James to be in the ring the following week.
This one really fooled no one and looked pretty cheesy.
10. Eric Young and the World Telelvision Title
3 of 12Arn Anderson may have had a stroke each week watching Eric Young wear the strap.
Young is a good wrestler, but the beard and the underwear-wearing and the all-out craziness associated with his mental state as he wrestled and from time to time at that.
And when he did his "Hollywood" act and went looking for stars, he actually tussled with SCOTT BAIO.
That segment alone put television back 20 years.
Eric Young vs. Chachi does not win fans over.
9. Names on the Police Blotter
4 of 12It seemed like a revolving door for a bit, but current or former TNA talent appearing on police arrest records for various incidents, including drug possession, DUI and other offenses.
Names like Daffney, Shane Helms, Matt and Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle were honored with a mug shot and media coverage.
The Hardys were the most "decorated" of the group. Both have sought treatment and counseling for their problems. While Jeff was welcomed back to the company, Matt was fired and may or may not return in the future.
8. Karen Jarrett Sticks Her Nose...in Everything!
5 of 12I am of the opinion she is nice to look at.
And then, she opens her mouth.
Karen Jarrett was nothing more than a nuisance on TNA and while she served a purpose in the Jeff Jarrett/Kurt Angle spot, it got out of hand and was really bad for television.
This was not a Tully Blanchard/Baby Doll angle.
This was real life and it played out on TNA.
Keep Jarrett in the background.
7. Jeff Jarrett and the Mexican Heavyweight Title
6 of 12The fact Jarrett is the Mexican Heavyweight Champion is good for TNA in its work to promote wrestling around the world.
How Jarrett promotes the belt is a disgrace.
There needed to be more respect for Mexico, the Mexican title and how Jarrett interacted with Hispanics.
The way TNA went about this was all wrong.
6. Sting vs. Hulk Hogan
7 of 12I am not going to rehash all of this. But it was bad for television.
The fact Sting wanted to save TNA much like he was counted on to try and save WCW is cool, but the angle was strange.
While it was built and built and built, it did not get the buzz TNA was hoping for. People did not want to see this match, thought it would be old and dull, like a Ric Flair/Sting match of today.
And for the most part, it was.
5. Anytime Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff Were on Camera
8 of 12Two guys who had to have their faces on WCW every week do the same thing in TNA.
Enough said.
4. Velvet Sky Holding the Knockouts Title for a Week
9 of 12She worked so hard to get the title, proved she was worthy of the belt, wrestled the top contenders and then won the title.
Oh, and then lost the title to Gail Kim.
Why would the creative team build her up and then let her fall so fast?
Weird, odd, strange...insert the comment you want.
Velvet Sky should be a major player in the company.
3. Bobby Roode vs. Kurt Angle at Bound for Glory
10 of 12This match had Bobby Roode "winner" written all over it.
Angle won the match.
While the match was good and entertaining and gave the fans what it wanted, the ending was suspect, just by the look in Roode's eyes after the match.
The match lost all credit when the very next week...
2. James Storm Beats Kurt Angle for TNA World Title
11 of 12It isn't because Storm won, because he was a worthy champion.
It was that the title changed hands on television when it could have been done on PPV.
Angle had an injury he sustained in the Bound for Glory match with Bobby Roode and needed to drop the title.
He did so by allowing Storm to hit the "Last Call Super Kick" in a matter of two or so minutes.
It was great to see Storm win, but he held the belt all of a week.
1. Sting vs. Jeff Hardy at Victory Road
12 of 12It may be the low point of this company of all time.
Hardy was not getting over as the TNA Champion and was facing Sting for the title.
An "impaired" Hardy came to the ring and the match proved to be one of the worst of all time, setting TNA back in its attempt to move forward and compete against the WWE.
