College Football's Top 5 for Next Season
The college football season officially ended last night with Alabama defeating LSU in the BCS National Championship 21-0 at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Even though the season has come to a close for college football, things are just starting.
Spring practice is just around the corner. Early enrollments will start practicing and top recruits are finalizing their decisions as to which school they will choose. As early as it is, the question now becomes, who will start the season at number one?
#5 Michigan Wolverines
1 of 5Dual-threat quarterbacks are still tough to deal with no matter how much the pace of the game has changed.
Head coach Brady Hoke has both Fitzgerald Toussaint and Denard Robinson coming back and they both led the Wolverines in rushing.
The Wolverines finally had a season reminiscent of the past as they finished 11-2 and won the Sugar Bowl in a close overtime battle, 23-20 over Virginia Tech.
With the offensive returners for the Wolverines, there's no telling how far this team can go.
#4 Oregon Ducks
2 of 5Oregon is a good football team and the only place they seem to be lacking is in the interior of the defense.
The Ducks seem to have some promising defensive backs this coming year as Cliff Harris was dismissed from the team after being given numerous chances by coach Chip Kelly.
Darron Thomas and DeAnthony Thomas are true play-makers and backup quarterback Bryan Bennett has done extremely well when he's played.
Josh Huff has had some issues catching the football this year, but the junior-to-be should be heavily relied upon in the pass game this year for the Ducks.
Ducks Rose Bowl bound again? Quite possibly.
#3 Oklahoma Sooners
3 of 5Quarterback Landry Jones is coming back for his senior year and the Sooners are always one of the nation's best.
Bob Stoops always keeps a well rounded team and the stability at the quarterback position and the Sooners being a 10-win team for the 33rd time keep Oklahoma in college football's upper-class.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys were the talk of the state this year, but things will probably be back to normal in Norman this coming season.
#2 LSU Tigers
4 of 5It seemed as if the Tigers waited on Tyrann Mathieu in crucial games to make a big play before they turned it on and the BCS championship game was no different.
As good as the LSU defense is, Les Miles won't be satisfied with the Walter Camp coach of the year award. LSU had a great run this season until being shutout in the title game.
The Tigers are loaded with talent coming back, from Mathieu and Eric Reid on defense to Spencer Ware and true freshman Odell Beckham on offense.
The SEC is the toughest conference by far in some circles and LSU was good enough to go undefeated until the championship. If the Tigers can repeat the year and have a better showing in big games, there may be a celebration in Baton Rouge at the end of next season.
#1 USC Trojans
5 of 5Robert Woods and Marquise Lee were this season's most dangerous wide receiver duo with no doubt.
Throw in the fact that Matt Barkley decided to stay one more year for the Trojans and you have the nation's best quarterback and two receiver combination by far.
A 10-2 finish this season and coming back with a more experienced, returning core at linebacker and an All-American safety in TJ McDonald, the Trojans have put themselves in prime position for their return to glory.
Fight On!
