LSU vs. Alabama Predictions: How the AP Top 5 Will Look After the Game
This season's edition of bowl matchups will reach its conclusion Monday night with the BCS National Championship Game.
With the end of the season comes postseason rankings. The AP Top 5 will look different in its postseason version because of losses and victories during bowl season.
Shakeups are always fun at the top. This season will be no different.
Here is how the AP Top 5 will look after tonight's championship game:
5. Alabama
1 of 5Alabama will fall to No. 5 in the AP poll following their Monday night loss to LSU in the BCS National Championship Game. The Tide currently sit at No. 2 in the Week 15 edition of the AP poll.
The Crimson Tide enjoyed a wonderful season. They lost once during the regular season to LSU, and are set to lose again tonight against the Tigers in the national championship game.
Any time Alabama doesn't win a national title, it is vaguely disappointing for Tide faithful. This year is no different because of the talent lost on both sides of the ball heading into next season.
4. Arkansas
2 of 5Arkansas will jump into the AP top five at No. 4 in the postseason edition of the poll. The Razorbacks are currently No. 7 in the AP standings.
The Razorbacks grabbed a big win over Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl. A victory over a quality opponent in a prestigious bowl will go a long way for the Razorbacks' final ranking.
Arkansas should be very happy with its season. Its two losses were ugly, but were also at the hands of Alabama and LSU. It's tough to fault anyone for that considering the Tide and Tigers' dominance all season.
The Razorbacks will contend again next season, especially if they can add the nation's top recruit, Dorial Green-Beckham.
3. Oregon
3 of 5Oregon currently stands at No. 6 in the Week 15 edition of the AP poll. The Ducks' Rose Bowl victory over Wisconsin will give them a three-spot jump to No. 3.
The Ducks had an exciting season. They lost in Week 1 to LSU and also suffered a loss to an underrated USC Trojan team.
Grabbing a victory over an established Wisconsin program bodes well for the Ducks' final ranking this season.
Oregon should be back next year. The Ducks lose LaMichael James, but return Darron Thomas, Kenjon Barner and De'Anthony Thomas to the offensive fold.
2. Oklahoma State
4 of 5Oklahoma State feels it belonged in the BCS National Championship Game. However, it finished the season at No. 3.
The Cowboys' victory over Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl will help put the Cowboys at No. 2 in the final AP standings.
Oklahoma State didn't prove anything against Stanford that everyone didn't already know. Its offense is dynamic, but its defense can be porous when put under pressure.
Justin Blackmon and Brandon Weeden will both depart from the Cowboy program, so expect Mike Gundy's team to take a step back next season.
1. LSU
5 of 5LSU will finish their season perfect and remain at No. 1 in the final AP rankings.
The Tigers will cap their impressive season with a narrow victory over Alabama in the BCS National Championship Game.
Dominant is the best word to describe LSU this season. They faced a daunting schedule but managed to come out unscathed.
What's scarier than LSU's dominance this season? They could easily repeat it next season.
The offense returns all but Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee at the skill positions, and their defense loses little that its incredible depth can't replace.
Look out again next year folks; the boys in Baton Rouge will be calling again.
