NFL Playoff Bracket Picture 2024-25: AFC, NFC Standings After Week 17 SNF

Joe TanseyDec 31, 2024

The Washington Commanders' Sunday night win overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons played a significant role in three different playoff races in the NFC.

First of all, the Commanders confirmed their spot in the seven-team field as a wild-card team in Jayden Daniels' rookie season.

The result also benefited the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Los Angeles won the NFC West thanks to its edge in the strength of victory tiebreaker over the Seattle Seahawks, who were eliminated from the playoff race as a result. Tampa Bay now just needs to win in Week 18 to clinch the NFC South over the Atlanta Falcons.

Thirteen of the 14 playoff spots are now confirmed. The only one left is the final wild-card spot in the AFC, which is down to the Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals.

A handful of division titles and seeding situations have to be figured out, but we at least know a majority of the postseason participants.

Division Leaders

1. Kansas City (15-1)

2. Buffalo (13-3)

3. Baltimore (11-5)

4. Houston (9-7)

Wild-Card Race

5. Pittsburgh (10-6)

6. Los Angeles Chargers (10-6)

7. Denver (9-7)

8. Miami (8-8)

9. Cincinnati (8-8)

The Buffalo Bills locked themselves into the No. 2 seed with their blowout win over the New York Jets.

Buffalo handed the Kansas City Chiefs their only loss of the regular season to date, but the Bills will likely have to go to Arrowhead Stadium to land the AFC's berth in the Super Bowl.

The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will fight it out for the AFC North title and the No. 3 seed in Week 18.

Baltimore hosts the Cleveland Browns, while the Steelers welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to Acrisure Stadium.

Cincinnati needs a win over Pittsburgh and some additional help to get in as the final wild-card team in the AFC.

The Indianapolis Colts were cleared out of the Bengals' way with their surprising defeat to the New York Giants.

The Dolphins moved back ahead of the Bengals with a late-afternoon triumph against the Cleveland Browns.

Denver gets into the postseason with a win, Miami qualifies with a win and Broncos loss, while the Bengals are in with a win and losses by both the Broncos and Dolphins.

Division Leaders

1. Minnesota (14-2)

2. Philadelphia (13-3)

3. Los Angeles Rams (10-6)

4. Tampa Bay (9-7)

Wild-Card Race

5. Detroit (13-2)

6. Washington (11-5)

7. Green Bay (11-5)

9. Atlanta (8-7)

Washington's win clinched a playoff berth and moved it up to No. 6 in the wild-card race.

The Commanders are ahead of the Green Bay Packers on conference record. Green Bay fell to Minnesota in Sunday's late-afternoon window.

Minnesota temporarily moved into the NFC's No. 1 seed with their win over the Green Bay Packers.

The Detroit Lions can move back into the top spot with a Monday night victory against the San Francisco 49ers.

Detroit and Minnesota play in Week 18 with the No. 1 overall seed and NFC North title on the line.

The Eagles clinched the NFC East title with their early-afternoon triumph over the Cowboys.

Saquon Barkley and Co. will be the No. 2 seed and they do not have to worry about anything in Week 18, unlike the teams in the NFC North.

The NFC West and South winners will be the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds in the NFC bracket.

The Rams have the inside track to the No. 3 seed. They just need a win over Seattle in Week 18 to remain ahead of Tampa Bay.

The Bucs need to beat the New Orleans Saints to clinch the NFC South crown. If the Bucs lose, Atlanta gets the division title with the win. If both teams lose, the Bucs get in as the No. 4 seed.
