Jalen Hurts Out With Concussion
Jalen Hurts was officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Hurts is still in concussion protocol from the head injury he suffered in the first half of last week's loss to the Washington Commanders.
Kenny Pickett will be under center for the Eagles on Sunday. Pickett, who is dealing with a rib issue of his own, threw for 143 yards and a touchdown in Week 16.
Pickett is going up against a Dallas passing defense that allowed over 250 yards in four of the last six weeks.
However, Pickett's struggles to keep the Eagles in front during the second half on Sunday might turn away some prospective fantasy football players who need a signal-caller for their championship showdowns.;
Bryce Young could be one of the potential waiver-wire options to replace Hurts. The Carolina Panthers quarterback had 298 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this season. Tampa Bay has the third-worst passing defense in the NFL.
Mason Rudolph is facing the Jacksonville Jaguars' second-worst passing defense, but he is a bit of a risky option given the Tennessee Titans' overall struggles.
As for the Eagles, Saquon Barkley should receive the biggest boost with Hurts off the field. Barkley averaged 4.7 yards per carry in a 34-6 win over Dallas on November 10.
CeeDee Lamb Shut Down For Season
CeeDee Lamb was shut down by the Cowboys because of the shoulder injury he's been dealing with for most of the season.
Lamb felt the affects of the shoulder issue when he fell on it in certain games, including in Sunday night's win over Tampa Bay.
Without Lamb, the Cowboys will rely on Jalen Tolbert and KaVontae Turpin more. Tight end Jake Ferguson should also get extra run in the passing game with Lamb out.
Tolbert and Turpin are potential sleeper targets on the waiver wire, but they may not be close to the WR2 tier because Philadelphia's defense has allowed the second-fewest passing yards in the NFL.
Carolina's Adam Thielen and Tennessee's Calvin Ridley are veteran options worth looking at, if they are on the waiver wire in your league, because of their matchups against Tampa Bay and Jacksonville.
Green Bay's Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed could be options, if available, as well since the Minnesota Vikings give up the most receiving yards to opposing wide receivers in the NFL.
Detroit allows the second-most receiving yards to wide outs, but it may be hard to find any of the San Francisco pass-catchers on waivers.
