Lamar Jackson 'Still Mad' About INT vs. Steelers Despite Clinching Playoffs with Win

Joseph ZuckerDec 22, 2024

Lamar Jackson threw for three touchdowns in Saturday's 34-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, yet the Baltimore Ravens quarterback couldn't help but dwell on his interception in the fourth quarter.

"I was mad until the game was over," Jackson said after the game. "I'm lying. I'm still mad. The game is over and I'm still hot."

The Ravens were poised to add to a seven-point lead inside the opening minute of the fourth quarter. A big run by Derrick Henry got the ball to the Pittsburgh 11-yard line. Baltimore couldn't capitalize, though, because Jackson threw a pass into the waiting arms of Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The two-time MVP chalked the interception up to a miscommunication with wide receiver Rashod Bateman.

The turnover didn't prove costly for the Ravens. Two plays later, cornerback Marlon Humphrey gave the home team some breathing room with a pick-six.

Jackson didn't let the outcome change his perspective on the interception. He said it effectively "could have been the difference" on a different night.

Beyond the win itself, Baltimore clinched a playoff berth and moved level with the Steelers at the top of the AFC North at 10-5. Saturday night should've been a celebratory occasion, with an acknowledgement that plenty of work still lies ahead.

Instead, Jackson clearly wasn't in a mood to gloss over his mistakes from Week 16, and that focus is one reason why he has maintained such a high level on the field across his seven-year career.
