Packers' Rooting Guide for NFL Playoff Bracket Implications of Week 15
The Green Bay Packers are up against another tough test in Week 15.
The sixth-seeded team in the NFC visits the Seattle Seahawks, who are playing some of the best football in the league right now.
A loss in Seattle could open up some trouble for the Packers in their quest for a wild-card spot.
Green Bay would love some help from across the NFL to keep its spot in the standings and avoid any potential danger in the coming weeks.
Saints over Commanders
1 of 3
Green Bay enters Week 15 with a one-game edge over the Washington Commanders in the wild-card standings.
The Packers would love for the Commanders to get upset by the New Orleans Saints to provide some cushion if they suffer a defeat in Seattle.
Washington owns the better conference record going into Week 15. That would be the first tiebreaker between the Packers and Commanders.
A Saints win seems incredibly unlikely with Jake Haener taking charge of the offense in place of the injured Derek Carr.
However, Washington is 1-3 in its last four games and is only three weeks away from losing to the Dallas Cowboys.
A Saints victory would, at minimum, keep the Packers one game in front of the Commanders going into Week 16.
Chargers over Buccaneers
2 of 3
The Packers have to be aware of all possible threats in the NFC.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could shift into the NFC wild-card conversation if they end up level with the Atlanta Falcons at any point.
Atlanta, who is one game back in the NFC South, won both head-to-head meetings with the Bucs and just needs to finish with the same record to win the division.
A potential drop to 7-7 with a Bucs loss to the Los Angeles Chargers would benefit the Packers because it would keep multiple games of separation between Green Bay and Tampa Bay.
The Chargers need a win to help their seeding in the AFC wild-card race. They enter the weekend tied with the Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos at 8-5.
A Packers win combined with a Chargers victory would drop Seattle to 8-6 and Tampa Bay to 7-7, which is ideal for Green Bay's path to the postseason.
Bears over Vikings
3 of 3
The Packers can't jump the Minnesota Vikings in the standings in Week 15.
However, they can move within one game of the Vikings if they beat the Seahawks and the Vikings are upset by the Chicago Bears on Monday night.
A Chicago win in Minnesota is even more unlikely than a New Orleans win over Washington, but you can never say never with a divisional game.
The Bears took the Vikings to overtime in their first meeting of the season. They lost their three NFC North games by a combined seven points.
A Minnesota loss and Green Bay win would lower the gap between the teams to one game.
Green Bay still has an uphill climb to surpass Minnesota because it has one head-to-head loss to the Vikings and it has a worse divisional record than them.
Minnesota still has to play on the road in Seattle and Detroit in Weeks 16 and 18, so there's a chance the Packers creep ahead of the Vikings if everything goes right.
