Cowboys Rumors: 'Feeling Around' the NFL Mike McCarthy Will Return as HC in 2025
On track to have their first losing season since 2020, the Dallas Cowboys may not be looking to move on from Mike McCarthy as their head coach.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic on the Scoop City podcast (starts at 9:35 mark), there is a "feeling around the league" that McCarthy will be back with the Cowboys in 2025.

There have been indications from the Cowboys that McCarthy might be back, even as his contract is set to expire after this season.
Jerry Jones said during his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Nov. 26 that he hasn't ruled out giving McCarthy a new deal.
The Cowboys owner doubled down on thinking McCarthy could be the right coach for the team going forward a few days later.
"Quality of character, quality of football character, he's steady as a rock…" Jones said on Dec. 3 on 105.3 The Fan (h/t Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com). "He's genuine, he's no BS with these players, and I've never thought for one second that the team had quit recognizing what an outstanding coach he is."
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott also vouched for McCarthy to remain the head coach, telling Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein he "wholeheartedly" believes in the 61-year-old.
McCarthy's overall record with the Cowboys is quite good. He is 47-33 with playoff appearances in each of the past three seasons. Their 41 wins since 2021 are the fifth-most in the NFL.
The main problem has been McCarthy's lack of playoff success. He is just 1-3 in the postseason, with two losses coming at home.
This season has been a mess for the Cowboys, between poor roster construction and injuries. They are currently 5-8 entering a Week 15 matchup with the Carolina Panthers. One more loss will clinch their first losing season since 2020.
