College Football Awards 2024: Odds, Start Time, Date, TV Schedule and More

Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty and the rest of college football's top stars will be honored on Thursday night.

Hunter and Jeanty are the expected top two vote-getters for the Heisman Trophy, but before they visit New York on Saturday night, they could collect hardware for being the best players at their specific positions.

Hunter is a finalist for both the Chuck Bednarik, Maxwell and Biletnikoff Awards, while Jeanty is up for the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards.

Hunter could walk away from Thursday with three different awards.

The Colorado two-way star is up for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the overall player of the year, the Chuck Bednarik Award for best defensive player and the Biletnikoff Award for the nation's top receiver.

Hunter is up against Jeanty and Dillon Gabriel for the Maxwell, which is usually an indicator of who wins the Heisman.

Nick Nash of San Jose State and Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan are Hunter's competitors for the Biletnikoff. Nash led the FBS with 1,382 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns.

Ohio State's Caleb Downs and Penn State's Abdul Carter are the other finalists for the Bednarik Award.

History is not on Hunter's side to win the Bednarik. Minkah Fitzpatrick in 2017 is the only defensive back to win the award in the last decade.

Jeanty is the runaway favorite to capture the Doak Walker. He finished with 837 more rushing yards than North Carolina's Omarion Hampton and was tied with Army quarterback Bryson Daily for the nation's lead in rushing touchdowns with 29.

The Davey O'Brien Award for the nation's best quarterback does not have the same intrigue it does in a usual college football year. That's because there are no truly elite quarterbacks in the college game in 2024 and there are no legitimate Heisman contenders from the position.

Miami's Cam Ward was second in the FBS in passing to Syracuse's Kyle McCord and he led the FBS with 36 passing touchdowns.

Shedeur Sanders, who is a finalist along with Gabriel for the Davey O'Brien, finished directly behind Ward in both passing yards and passing touchdowns.
