Cowboys' Micah Parsons Wants 'Fair Shot' with Mike McCarthy, Healthy Roster in 2025
Micah Parsons believes the current Dallas Cowboys core is worth keeping around.
Dallas is currently 5-7 and could be in line to make significant changes in the offseason. Head coach Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his contract and the team could look to make a move at head coach.
However, Parsons revealed that he would prefer to have McCarthy and everyone back because he believes injuries derailed the 2024 season.

"I think I would like a fair shot with everyone back -- players, coaches -- because the injuries kind of struck of what this season could really be," Parsons said, per Todd Archer of ESPN. "The injuries have been terrible. And, you know, it really sucks. Seeing Zack [Martin], D-Law [DeMarcus Lawrence] not having the year I know he planned to have. He had such a great start. It really sucks."
Parsons continued by reflecting on his relationship with McCarthy but also acknowledging that it is Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' decision.
"In terms of coaching, man, Coach Mike, me and his relationship has always been really good," Parsons said, per Archer. "He always took real good care of me. I just don't know how the how the business side of it's going to go, you know? [Owner and general manager Jerry Jones] has his own mindset about who he wants to coach. This is his team. I'm kind of just, like, a pawn in this business."
Dallas entered 2024 with high expectations but got off to a 1-2 start and also had a five-game losing streak in October and November. Injuries to Martin, Lawrence and quarterback Dak Prescott, in addition to Parsons himself, contributed to the struggles.
McCarthy is in his fifth season as Dallas' head coach and has compiled a 47-32 record. He has led the team to three playoff appearances and two division titles. The losing this season can be considered an anomaly.
Still, the team's struggles in the playoffs and the lack of a long-term commitment to McCarthy could make this a perfect opportunity for Jones to shake up his team.
