Juan Soto Rumors: Yankees, Red Sox Among Teams 'In Range' of $700M Contract Offer
Juan Soto's free-agent market appears to be escalating rapidly, with multiple teams believed to have offered him a contract in the range of $700 million in total value.
Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and New York Mets are all thought to have made the four-time All-Star an offer around the $700 million mark.
These are four of the five teams that have been frequently connected to Soto throughout the process. The Los Angeles Dodgers are the other, but their interest was always contingent on the possibility that his market might not be as significant as he was hoping.

Since that clearly seems to not be the case, it's safe to assume that Soto's eventual decision will come down to the four teams mentioned.
ESPN's Jorge Castillo noted the Mets and Yankees likely have a leg up on the other two clubs, with the Mets seen as a slight favorite because owner Steve Cohen is "dead set" on signing him and will beat any offer.
The Blue Jays are an intriguing wild card in this equation because there is a "widespread belief" across MLB that they will come in with the highest offer to Soto, per SNY's Andy Martino.
It's not out of character for the Blue Jays to be extremely aggressive when there is a superstar player they are interested in. They came in with the same offer to Shohei Ohtani as the Los Angeles Dodgers did last offseason.
The Red Sox have been hanging around throughout this entire process. They seem to be more of a dark horse candidate in the race, but if the money is right there is no reason they can't make an appealing pitch to Soto.
Soto's timeline to make a decision appears to be sometime next week as the winter meetings are happening. There was initially belief he could decide before the winter meetings, but now it will likely come during the event being held in Dallas from Dec. 8-12.
It's been fairly quiet for position player signings so far this offseason mostly because teams are waiting to find out where Soto will play. There could be a huge wave of deals that comes after he makes his decision.
Soto is coming off a 2024 season with the Yankees in which he finished third in AL MVP voting. The 26-year-old hit .288/.419/.569 with a career-high 41 homers in 157 games.
