Warriors Rumors: Moses Moody 'a Name to Monitor' Ahead of 2025 NBA Trade Deadline

Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody "is a name to monitor on the trade market" ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline on Feb. 6, according to NBA Insider Michael Scotto.

Moody's role within the Warriors has remained largely unchanged since he was selected in the first round by Golden State in 2021, leading executives to believe he could be available on the trade market.

"Moody could be part of a package in a bigger deal, and Steve Kerr still doesn't play him 20 minutes a game," an NBA executive told HoopsHype, per Scotto.

Moody and the Warriors agreed to a three-year, $37.5 million rookie extension prior to the season.

The 22-year-old is averaging 15.9 minutes per game this season, contributing 7.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and is shooting 38.8 percent from beyond the arc.

Following the Warriors' 128-120 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 25, in which Moody played 16 minutes and scored 15 points, he commented on his lack of control regarding his playing time.

"That's not a luxury I've had through my career, so, I've kind of had to figure out how to play — whatever happens, whatever the opportunity is," Moody told reporters. "I kind of just deal with whatever it is. I don't necessarily look for outside things as in playing time, rotation, or whatever it is. When I get the opportunity, I take the shots that I get. I take the driving lanes that I get and just play."

In addition to Moody, Jonathan Kuminga, De'Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II are also potential players to out up on the trade market.

Kuminga garnered significant trade interest before the season as he pursued a max-extension contract with the Warriors, who were reportedly aiming for a deal in the range of $30 million annually, per to Scotto.

Payton II is approaching the end of his contract with the Warriors and could bring valuable veteran presence as part of a trade package. Meanwhile, Melton, whose contract is also expiring, may serve as a trade asset despite being sidelined for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, per Scotto.
