Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
It's not just that the 36-year-old is sidelined for the year with the Eagles sitting first in the NFC East and among the teams in the Super Bowl conversation. This could be how his NFL career ends.
Graham told reporters in July he intended for 2024 to be his final season in the NFL. He alluded to the continued uncertainty over his future when confirming his torn triceps after the Eagles' 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
The 2020 Pro Bowler has spent his entire 15-year career in Philadelphia. His 206 appearances are the most in franchise history and he's third all-time in sacks with 76.5.
No player on the current roster has built up more goodwill among Eagles fans than him.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley credited Graham with helping him make such a seamless adjustment to the team.
"The energy and the passion that he brings not only to this team but this city, he epitomizes what it is to be a Philadelphia Eagle," Barkley said, per ESPN's Tim McManus. "And all of us have to get in line and try to follow and try to accomplish the things that he accomplished."
From a more practical standpoint, Graham's absence could have a noticeable effect on the defense. He had 3.5 sacks, six tackles for loss and seven hits on the quarterback in 11 appearances. Even into the twilight of his career, he was making positive contributions along the defensive line.
Beyond that, it will be impossible to replace the leadership Graham provided on the field.
