Giants' Rooting Guide for 2025 NFL Draft Implications of Week 12

Joe TanseyNov 22, 2024

The New York Giants are firmly entrenched in the race for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.

They signaled their intent to tank when they benched Daniel Jones for Tommy DeVito earlier this week.

Entering Week 12, New York sits third in the projected draft order behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans.

Giants fans should spend the next two months rooting for the pair of AFC South sides so that they can clear out of Big Blue's way for the top pick.

Only the Titans are in action in Week 12, and although it seems unlikely they will come away victorious, there's always a chance upsets happen.

Titans over Texans

Tennessee is the only one of the two AFC South teams above the Giants in the draft order in action on Sunday.

The Titans are one of the biggest underdogs on Sunday's schedule against the Texans, who they play twice in the final seven weeks.

An upset always seems more likely in divisional play, so at least New York has that to hope for.

The Titans also have not been getting blown out recently. They lost by 10 points to both the Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota Vikings.

Tennessee at least the makings of a frisky team, a quality the Giants will want to see in the fight for the top pick.

Raiders over Broncos

You never know what can happen in divisional games.

That has to again be the motto for the Giants as they look on from afar at the Las Vegas Raiders' clash with the Denver Broncos.

Las Vegas comes into Week 12 with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 draft. It hasn't won since Week 4 and lost by 16 points to the Broncos in Week 5 to begin its six-game losing streak.

If there is any hope for the Giants, it's that Brock Bowers continues to improve by the week and he could be a menace to the Denver defense.

Outside of that, the Raiders don't have many ways to threaten the Denver defense, so they may remain in the two-win club with the Giants for at least another week.

Patriots over Dolphins

The New England Patriots are one of the few teams the Giants can rely on to play themselves out of the race for the top pick.

New England is 2-2 in its last four games, and it should be competitive against the Miami Dolphins in Week 12.

The Patriots beat the New York Jets and Chicago Bears in Weeks 8 and 10 to move up to the No. 5 pick. They lost in overtime to the Titans and fell by six points to the Los Angeles Rams in their most-recent losses.

Drake Maye appears to be the real deal at quarterback, and if he can lead the Pats to a win in Miami, the Giants won't have to worry about the AFC East team in the race for the top pick for the rest of the regular season.
