Raiders' Gardner Minshew Will Be QB1 Over Desmond Ridder vs. Tua, Dolphins
Gardner Minshew will start at quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Antonio Pierce revealed the news to reporters on Wednesday.
In eight games (seven starts), Minshew has completed 67.0 percent of his passes for 1,501 yards (6.8 Y/A), six touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He's been benched twice this season, most recently on Nov. 3 for backup Desmond Ridder during a 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, after a bye week, Minshew will get his QB1 job back.
Minshew, who signed as a free agent with the Raiders last offseason, won a quarterback battle with Aidan O'Connell to be Las Vegas' starter this season.
However, Minshew was benched for O'Connell after five starts. O'Connell got the nod in Week 6, when the Raiders fell 32-13 to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Purdue star remained the starter in Week 7 at the Los Angeles Rams, but he suffered a broken thumb. Minshew finished out the 20-15 loss.
Ridder took over for Minshew midway through the third quarter of the Bengals game. He went 11-of-16 for 74 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown to tight end Brock Bowers in the game's final minute.
The former Atlanta Falcons starter remains the Raiders' backup with O'Connell still on injured reserve. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Oct. 21 that he would be out four to six weeks.
But for now, it's Minshew's show again as he leads the Raiders into Miami. Kickoff on Sunday is set for 1 p.m. ET.
