Travis Kelce Blasts 'F--king Ridiculous' Glare from Sun at Cowboys' AT&T Stadium
Add Travis Kelce to the list of NFL players pushing back against Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' pro-sun stance at AT&T Stadium.
On the latest episode of the New Heights podcast (starts at 50:05 mark), Kelce explained the glare that shines down into one of the end zones is "f--king ridiculous" and the window panes make the sun "bigger and brighter than it's ever f--king been."
The sun was a major talking point coming out of the Cowboys' 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday because CeeDee Lamb missed what should have been an easy touchdown catch after losing the ball in the sun.
Lamb confirmed after the game he "couldn't see the ball" because of the sun and said he would be "one-thousand percent" in favor of adding curtains to the roof during games.
Jones didn't even want to entertain the idea of curtains with reporters after the game:
The Cowboys owner also suggested the sun offers his team a home-field advantage because they are used to playing in that environment:
"That really goes under the category of home-field advantage. It should be an advantage to the home team, so I don't want to adjust it for one reason because it is an advantage to us. . . . That's our advantage. That should be our advantage. We get to play there more and we get to have it as an advantage. It has been an advantage for us to know where the sun is. I don't want to change that."
We know the Cowboys keep anti-reflective materials around their facilities when the sun is causing problems because they rolled one out for head coach Mike McCarthy's press conference on Monday.
Many people also posted different examples of curtains being used for various other events at AT&T Stadium, including concerts, the NCAA men's basketball tournament and WrestleMania 32.
There are many problems with Jones' theory, not least of which is Lamb's missed touchdown proved to be a disadvantage for the Cowboys.
Kelce has only played one game against the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in his career. It was a late-afternoon kickoff in Week 9 of the 2017 season. He had a solid game with seven catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in the Kansas Chiefs' 28-17 loss.
