Davante Adams Says Aaron Rodgers Is 'Driven' by Failure to Secure 2nd Super Bowl Win
New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams says his teammate, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, is motivated to continue his NFL career in hopes of winning a second Super Bowl.
"He's achieved a lot, obviously," Adams told ESPN's Tim Keown, "but I think he's driven by not being able to win multiple Super Bowls. He's won one, but he's been in situations where he's had the opportunity to almost taste it, almost touch it. Not being able to secure a championship at a higher rate is something that has, I won't say bothers him, but it has motivated him to continue on at this old age."

The 40-year-old Rodgers won Super Bowl XLV to cap the 2010 season with the Green Bay Packers. He was the Packers' starter for 15 years and made the playoffs 11 times. Green Bay won the NFC North on eight occasions overall and reached the NFC Championship five times under Rodgers, but the second Super Bowl eluded him.
Rodgers and Adams were teammates on the Packers from 2014-2021. From 2019-2021, the Packers won 13 regular-season games each season, earning the NFC's No. 2 seed in 2019 and No. 1 seed in 2020 and 2021. But a Super Bowl appearance eluded Rodgers even then, as the Packers fell in the NFC playoffs each time.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, that second Super Bowl may never transpire. The Jets are 3-7 and face a steep uphill climb just to make the playoffs. The 5-5 Denver Broncos occupy the AFC's final playoff spot right now, but they also hold a head-to-head tiebreaker over the Jets by virtue of their 10-9 win earlier this season.
That second Super Bowl appears further away than ever at this juncture, but Rodgers has still posted a tremendous resume, with the aforementioned Super Bowl victory as its crown jewel. He's also a four-time NFL MVP, a four-time first-team All-Pro and a 10-time Pro Bowler. Rodgers has thrown 490 touchdowns to just 112 interceptions lifetime.
For now, though, Rodgers and the Jets still have slight hope to make the playoffs, albeit a hope that got dashed significantly after a 31-6 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Up next is a home date Sunday with the 4-6 Indianapolis Colts.
