Bucs Donate $10K to Family After 18-Year-Old Fan Died in Car Crash on Way to MNF Game
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers donated $10,000 this week to the family of a fan who died in a car accident on their way to the Bucs' Nov. 4 Monday Night Football game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to ESPN's Jenna Laine, 18-year-old Connor Barba of Norman, Oklahoma, was killed in an accident in Montgomery County, Kansas, on Nov. 2 while he was driving from Oklahoma to Tampa for the game.
Barba's mother, Megan Barnett, who bought him tickets to the game as an early birthday present, was a passenger and was seriously injured in the accident. She is currently in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A car reportedly crossed over into Barba's lane on a two-lane road and struck Barba's vehicle head-on. Both Barba and the other driver died, but Barba's uncle, Collin Barnett, said he may have saved his mother's life by slamming on the brakes
Barba was a huge fan of Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, who played his college football in Barba's hometown of Norman at the University of Oklahoma.
Mayfield released a statement regarding Barba's passing, saying:
"My thoughts and prayers go out to Megan and her family as they deal with this heartbreaking loss. I am honored and humbled knowing that Connor was such a big fan. I would have loved to have met him. As a new parent, this really hits home for me. I realize there are no words that can provide true comfort at a time such as this, but I hope that Megan makes a full recovery and that she draws strength from the outpouring of support she is receiving from around the country."
Mayfield also told ESPN through a Buccaneers spokesperson that he and his wife, Emily, plan to reach out to Barba's family.
