NFL Rumors: Trevor Lawrence May Need Surgery for Shoulder Injury; Mac Jones to Be QB1
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is battling a "significant AC joint sprain," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
"Surgery is possible for Lawrence, sources say, though the current plan is for rest and rehab," Rapoport said. "While the team has called him day to day, week-to-week is probably a more accurate description. Regardless of whether Lawrence plays moving forward, the injury is expected to limit him for the next several weeks."
As a result, Mac Jones will be Jacksonville's starting quarterback.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Lawrence's health was a focal point going into the team's Week 10 game against the Minnesota Vikings. Rapoport reported Thursday that the signal-caller was not expected to play because of a shoulder injury and was considering "several options immediate and down the road."
Surgery was one of those options, although it wasn't a guarantee he would undergo a procedure.
While the Clemson product also dealt with ankle and knee injuries last season, he appeared in 16 games after playing all 17 in each of his first two campaigns in the league as the No. 1 overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft.
That durability helped him throw for more than 4,000 yards in 2022 and again in 2023. Lawrence has completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,004 yards, 11 touchdowns and six interceptions in nine games in 2024.
Jacksonville has struggled this season and will likely take another step back with its starter sidelined.
For Jones, this is a chance to prove he remains a viable starter in the NFL.
The New England Patriots selected him with the No. 15 overall pick of that 2021 draft, although he never lived up to expectations and was traded to Jacksonville ahead of the 2024 campaign.
Perhaps having the change of scenery can help him turn his career around in the near future.
