Commanders, Saints' Depth Chart, Salary Cap, NFL Draft Picks After Lattimore Trade
Having vaulted to the top of the NFC East, the Washington Commanders made a big swing ahead of the NFL trade deadline by acquiring four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the New Orleans Saints.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Saints will receive a 2025 third-round draft pick plus additional compensation from Washington in exchange for Lattimore.
ESPN's Adam Schefter added New Orleans will also add a 2025 fourth-round pick and receive its own sixth-round pick back that was traded to Washington during preseason for John Ridgeway. The Commanders will also receive a fifth-round selection back in the deal.
The Commanders are locked in a fight with the Philadelphia Eagles, who have A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith at wide receiver, for first place in the division. Adding Lattimore to their defense will help slow down the passing game for opposing teams.
Always struggling to balance their salary cap, the Saints had $4.2 million in space available this season before trading Lattimore. The Commanders had the sixth-most cap room in the league at $25.1 million.
Here are the updated defensive depth charts for both teams, along with a full list of their 2025 draft picks.

It hasn't taken long for Jayden Daniels to completely change the tenor around the Commanders organization.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that players around the league were saying either privately or to their agents that they want to be traded to Washington.
While it's unclear if Lattimore fell into that category, this is a great fit for both sides. The 28-year-old isn't the same type of player he was earlier in his career when he was a ballhawk, but he's still very effective playing on the outside.
Lattimore is only giving up one reception per every 30.1 coverage snaps and has allowed a total of 83 yards as the primary defender this season.
First-year head coach Dan Quinn has the Commanders' defense ranked fifth in pass yards allowed per game (183.3), but their 14 passing touchdowns allowed is tied for the ninth-most in the league.
This is a stark turnaround for the franchise that spent last year's trade deadline dealing away Chase Young and Montez Sweat. Lattimore's talent will be tested right away since the Commanders' next two games are against the Pittsburgh Steelers and Eagles.
The Saints might be starting a long-overdue rebuild coming off their 23-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Trading Lattimore comes one day after they fired head coach Dennis Allen.
Allen's dismissal came amid a seven-game losing streak after a 2-0 start this season. The Saints are still going to be in cap purgatory even without Lattimore on their roster.
Lattimore will still count $20.6 million against the cap for the Saints in 2025, but trading him saves the club $16 million in cash spending next year.
On the bright side, though, this trade does give the Saints six picks in the first four rounds of the 2025 draft. They badly need to replenish their roster with young, cost-controlled talent to get out of their current cap situation and move forward from the purgatory they have been in since 2021.
