Raiders Rumors: Scott Turner Named Interim OC; Norv Turner Ends Retirement to Join LV
Two-time Super Bowl champion coach Norv Turner is reportedly back in the NFL for the first time since 2019.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero, Turner has ended his retirement to join the coaching staff of the Las Vegas Raiders as "an assistant to help guide their offense" following the firing of offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.
Turner's son Scott, who is the Raiders' pass game coordinator, was named the interim offensive coordinator on Tuesday.

Norv Turner was head coach of the Raiders when they were still in Oakland for two seasons in 2004 and 2005. The team finished fourth in the AFC West both years and had a combined record of 9-23 with him at the helm.
The 72-year-old got his start in the NFL as Los Angeles Rams wide receivers coach in 1975. He was hired as offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 and helped lead the team to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1992 and 1993.
Turner served as head coach of the Washington Commanders from 1994 to 2000 and the San Diego Chargers from 2007 to 2012. He also held offensive coordinator roles with the Chargers, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers. He spent the latter part of the 2019 season as special assistant to the head coach after the Panthers fired Ron Rivera and replaced him with interim head coach Perry Fewell.
The Raiders rank last in the AFC West with a 2-7 record and have lost five straight games. In addition to Getsy's dismissal following Sunday's 41-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Antonio Pierce fired offensive line coach James Cregg and quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello. All three assistants were in their first year in Las Vegas.
The Raiders will use their bye week to install their new offensive system under Turner before returning to action on Nov. 17 against the Dolphins.
