Chiefs' DeAndre Hopkins Says TD Celebration Was 'Shout' to Titans: 'Nothing but Love'

Kansas City Chiefs veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins appeared to take a shot at his former Tennessee Titans squad with his touchdown celebration in Monday night's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

However, Hopkins took to social media to clarify that his "Remember the Titans" celebration was simply "a shout" to his former team and he has "nothing but love" for Tennessee:

Hopkins was referring to Titans general manager Ran Carthon and the rest of the front office, calling them "like family."

Hopkins spent a year and a half in Tennessee after signing with the team in July 2023. He appeared in all 17 games last season and returned to his dominant form with 75 catches for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns, his first 1,000-yard season since 2020 when he was with the Arizona Cardinals.

After six games this year, the Titans traded Hopkins to the Chiefs on Oct. 24 in exchange for a 2025 conditional fifth-round pick that improves to a fourth-rounder if the Chiefs advance to the Super Bowl and the wideout plays more than 60 percent of the snaps on offense.

In just his second game in Kansas City on Monday against Tampa Bay, Hopkins showed how much of an asset he could be for star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, reeling in eight catches on nine targets for 86 yards and two touchdowns to help lead the Chiefs to a 30-24 win in overtime. The back-to-back reigning Super Bowl champions remained the only undefeated team in the NFL at 8-0.

Hopkins is hoping to compete for his first career Super Bowl title, so he is undoubtedly motivated to help lead Kansas City to the first three-peat in modern NFL history.

The Chiefs will be back in action on Sunday with an AFC West matchup against the Denver Broncos.
