Week 10 Waiver Wire: Justin Herbert, Ray Davis, Johnston Highlight Pickups to Know

Zach BuckleyNov 4, 2024

Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season hasn't fully finished yet, but it's already time to browse the fantasy football waiver wire for potential Week 10 pickups.

The best fantasy managers are typically the most informed, so you're getting a leg up on your leaguemates by getting a head start on your research.

Let's dig right in, then, with a look at three Week 10 waiver-wire targets who are rostered in fewer than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues, per FantasyPros.

Justin Herbert, QB, Los Angeles Chargers (44 Percent Rostered)

Between the Chargers' early reliance on their running game and offseason changes to their receiving group, it took some time for this passing attack to get going.

It feels fully activated now, which is worth noting considering the kind of arm talent Justin Herbert has.

After throwing for fewer than 180 yards in each of his first four games, Hebert has thrown for 230-plus in the four games since. His passing output has landed north of 270 yards in three consecutive contests, and he just threw multiple touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time this season.

With some potentially high scoring games ahead—the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs are all on the upcoming schedule—Herbert should continue airing it out and looking no worse than a viable streamer in fantasy.

Ray Davis, RB, Buffalo Bills (21 Percent)

Ray Davis, a fourth-round rookie out of Kentucky, just turned six touches into 90 scrimmage yards and a score. Over the previous two weeks, it was 76 yards and a touchdown on 12 touches.

Oh, and in the game prior to that stretch, Davis filled in for an injured James Cook and promptly posted 152 yards on 23 touches.

He keeps making things happen, and that's unquestionably a good thing. What's not so great is the amount of competition he faces in this backfield. A healthy Cook typically gets a lot of work. Journeyman Ty Johnson factors into the equation, too. And then you have all the rushing attempts taken by quarterback Josh Allen.

Davis doesn't have the clearest path to a significant workload, but he keeps making the most of the chances he gets. He looks like a worthwhile flex play with the chance of outperforming that.

Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers (16 Percent)

Quentin Johnston is big, fast and explosively talented. While there might be legitimate questions around the 2023 first-round pick, they don't outweigh the positives.

This receiver group is a bit crowded, and this passing game hasn't been the most prolific, but Johnston keeps showing that he can be productive anyway.

On Sunday, he turned five targets into four receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. It was the third time in his last five outings that he's had at least 44 receiving yards and a score.

If he can keep hitting home runs—his score on Sunday was a 66-yarder—then his relatively limited volume may not matter. If he's drawing a handful of targets, he's capable of holding down a flex spot in your lineup.
