Updated 2025 NFL Draft Order After Sunday's Week 9 Results

Joe TanseyNov 4, 2024

The field for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is all of a sudden loaded.

Seven teams left Week 9 with 2-7 records and two more sit at 2-6 going into Week 10.

The New England Patriots hold the top selection at the moment, but that status could change with one full set of results.

No team may be in worse shape right now than the New Orleans Saints, who have lost seven in a row and are now set to pick in the top five.

Most of the other 2-7 teams were expected to be near the top of the 2025 draft order, and plenty of more defeats are in their future.

The Saints' stunning Week 9 loss to the Carolina Panthers put them in a spot few expected them to be in this season.

New Orleans is set to pick third in the current 2025 draft order.

More misery could be ahead for the Saints in Week 10, as they host the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons.

There is some relief on the schedule after that. New Orleans plays the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders. Wins in those games would keep the Saints far from the No. 1 overall pick.

Regardless of where they end up, the Saints' current position is stunning given how they started the season with a pair of 40-point performances in wins over Carolina and the Dallas Cowboys.

The New York Giants' battle with Carolina in Germany to kick off Week 10's Sunday slate is the biggest game next week in terms of NFL draft implications.

One of the teams will pull themselves out of the 2-7 pack, while the other will likely be a front-runner for a top-three pick.

Carolina is currently three spots ahead of the Giants in the draft order. A loss would keep the Panthers in the top five.

The Giants own the highest strength of schedule among the 2-7 teams, which is why they are seventh out of seven teams.

Cleveland and Las Vegas are both off in Week 10, so a loss would at least put the Giants into the top four.

Both teams face grueling schedules out of their respective Week 11 byes, so a Week 10 victory could go a long way in determining how far up the draft order both teams land.
