Report: Commanders Eye CB Trade at NFL Trade Deadline amid Jayden Daniels' 6-2 Start
The Washington Commanders are searching for a cornerback as Tuesday's trade deadline nears, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic.
"It's no surprise the red-hot Washington Commanders are calling around in search of a corner," Russini wrote.
"Coach Dan Quinn knows this is a weakness on his roster, and at 6-2, Washington needs help if they want to get past the Philadelphia Eagles and their superb receiver group in the NFC East."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
The NFC East-leading Commanders sit 6-2, a half-game ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles leading into their road matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday.
Ben Standig of The Athletic gave an update on the Commanders' trade deadline activity on Oct. 30, mentioning cornerback in particular.
"Numerous league sources told The Athletic they have heard minimally about Washington this deadline cycle or that the team is attached to any specific names. There's a willingness by the front office to listen, especially for a cornerback, according to another team's front-office executive, but there's little sense that activity is brewing."
However, Standig made sure to take the long view, noting that this is "Year 1 of a multiyear plan focused on sustained contention rather than chasing immediate gratification."
The Commanders are playing with house money right now after a surprising start. They haven't won more than 10 games in a season since 1991. Washington needs to form a foundation for sustained excellence, and dealing any picks of significance for another piece may not be the wisest choice in pursuit of that goal.
General manager Adam Peters does have 10 draft picks in 2025, including four top-100 choices, per Standig. So there is a pick to burn, maybe, but the question is whether that's a smart move for the future.
On the other hand, this team is special. Daniels is an electric talent who could morph into one of the league's superstars for years to come. It's very possible the Commanders could find themselves tied for first in the NFC standings after Sunday. If the chance to make a run for the Super Bowl is there, why not take it?
The Commanders have made waves elsewhere, too, with CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reporting that "Washington has poked around the receiver market to potentially give Terry McLaurin some help as it makes a playoff push."
Ultimately, Washington could use more help on the back end. The team has allowed 6.3 net yards per pass attempt, ranking 22nd in the league, per Pro Football Reference.
And another wideout alongside McLaurin could be helpful. Only two wideouts (McLaurin and Noah Brown) have more than 176 receiving yards through eight games.
So the Commanders are clearly a team to watch as the deadline approaches. For now, they look to move to 7-2 on the road against the 2-6 New York Giants on Sunday.
