CeeDee Lamb Says Cowboys 'Can Score with Anybody' amid Offense's Struggles

Timothy RappOct 31, 2024

The Dallas Cowboys currently rank 22nd in the NFL in points per game (21.4 PPG), a fairly mediocre mark for a team that came into the 2024 season with high expectations.

Despite that fact, however, star wideout CeeDee Lamb still believes the team's offense can hang with any team out there.

"We play confident and fast, we can score with anybody," he told reporters Thursday. "I feel like that's been our thing, we get to the red zone and we don't put up enough points. Just finishing our drives, ending our drives with 7, and not so much 3. We love Brandon [Aubrey]. He's taken care of us a lot, so trying to give him an off day."

The Cowboys, at 3-4, have their fair share of issues on both sides of the ball. Offensively, they have the worst rushing offense in football (74.1 YPG), a further indictment of the team's decision to decline signing a free agent difference-maker like Derrick Henry in favor of underwhelming options like Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott.

Defensively, the Cowboys have dealt with injuries, namely on the edge, with DeMarcus Lawrence and Marshawn Kneeland on injured reserve and is still recovering from an ankle injury that has kept him out of action for the past month.

Still, the Cowboys have given up an astonishing 27.2 points per game in their four losses. Both sides of the ball have struggled.

Lamb, 25, has done his part to keep the Cowboys afloat, with 45 catches on the season for 613 yards and four touchdowns. Even he's gotten off to a somewhat slow start by his own lofty standards, however, with just one game over 100 yards receiving.

Last season, he eclipsed that mark eight times (including one game over 200 yards receiving) and finished with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, an epic season that earned him Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors.

Up next is a tough matchup against a solid Atlanta Falcons team that is 5-3 on the season. The Cowboys can't afford to fall to 3-5 in a division featuring the Washington Commanders (6-2) and Philadelphia Eagles (5-2).

"Excited about this game plan," quarterback Dak Prescott told reporters Thursday. "Think we've got a great one in the making. Now it's about for us just locking in, being focused to it and going out there and not only implementing it but executing it to the way that we want to."
