NFL Rumors: Patriots Expected to Trade More Players After Josh Uche Deal with Chiefs
After trading outside linebacker Josh Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday, the New England Patriots are reportedly expected to make a few more deals in the next week.
Per Mike Giardi of the Boston Sports Journal, the Patriots "have told teams they are open for business" and league sources "expect them to peel off another vet or two" before the Nov. 5 trade deadline.
The Patriots improved to 2-6 with Sunday's 25-22 win over the New York Jets. Uche was a healthy scratch from that game, giving an early indication that New England was ready to move on from him.

Despite Sunday's win, 2024 still appears to be a rebuilding year for the Patriots. They had previously lost six straight games and appear to have one of the worst rosters in the NFL this season. First-year head coach Jerod Mayo went as far as to call his team "soft" after its loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London last week.
Still, New England has pieces in place that should build confidence for the future. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye impressed against the Jets before exiting the game with a concussion. He ran for 46 yards and a touchdown before being ruled out.
The Patriots' goal this offseason will be to add talent around the signal-caller, so it would make sense for them to flip their veterans to stockpile future assets. New England already has 10 picks in the 2025 NFL draft, so it will have a good chance to infuse its roster with young prospects who can be a part of the team's core.
Teams looking for improvements before next week's trade deadline would be wise to inquire with the Patriots to see who they're willing to get rid of in the next few days.
