NFL Coach on Jayden Daniels: 'We Will See If It Is Sustainable over Multiple Years'
One NFL coach remains skeptical about whether Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels can maintain his current rushing load over the long haul.
"We will see if it is sustainable over multiple years," the coach said to The Athletic's Mike Sando.
The Commanders have already cut back on Daniels' touches. Though their first five games, he had 57 carries for 300 yards and four touchdowns compared to 164 yards on 28 carries over their last five games.

Opposing teams appear to be adjusting to the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner as well. He had just five rushing yards in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Daniels' health was under the spotlight ahead of Washington's Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears considering he exited the Week 7 victory over the Carolina Panthers when he suffered a rib injury.
While he missed multiple practices in the lead up to the game against Chicago, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported "all signs point to" him playing. Schefter also reported the plan was to allow the LSU product to go through pregame warmups to see how he was feeling and cited a team official who said the quarterback is "one tough-ass dude."
Daniels didn't only play in the game, he ended up completing a Hail Mary on the final play to clinch a dramatic victory.
It was an early highlight of a largely excellent rookie season for the signal-caller, who has completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 2,147 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions.
Commanders fans know better than most the additional injury risk dual-threat quarterbacks face in the NFL. They still remember Robert Griffin III's torn ACL and LCL from the 2012 season, which derailed his career.
Now and moving forward, managing Daniels' workload is imperative for Washington.
