Davante Adams Describes 'Roller Coaster' of Jets-Raiders Trade: 'Time for a Change'
Davante Adams had his trade request fulfilled on Tuesday when the Las Vegas Raiders sent him to the New York Jets.
Following the trade, Adams described what the last few weeks have been like and expressed that he thinks the deal will be better for both him and his former team.
"It's been a rollercoaster for sure," he told reporters on Wednesday. "It's a weird thing to say that I'm happy, but obviously it was time for a change and this whole thing kind of transpired a little weird. But at the end of the day, we're in a better place, I think that the Raiders are in a better place as well. Everybody can kind of move on."

Adams also spoke about how he's excited to play with star receiver Garrett Wilson, who he discussed teaming up with in the past.
"We talked about this a little over a year ago, just how we wished we could've played together," Adams said. "I'm a fan of his game and the feeling is mutual on his side too. Here we are now, we've just got to maximize this and take advantage of it."
Adams' third season with the Raiders got off to a rocky start as he had just 18 receptions for 209 receiving yards and a touchdown in three games. He hasn't played the last three games due to a hamstring injury.
Now in New York, he'll play alongside Aaron Rodgers, who was his quarterback for the first eight seasons of his career when he was with the Green Bay Packers. Together, the two had plenty of success before Adams departed for Las Vegas after the 2020 season.
It's clear Adams needed a fresh start away from the Raiders, and now he has it in New York, where he believes he's in a better place.
The Jets are 2-4 to start the season, most recently dropping their matchup with the Buffalo Bills on Monday. Despite their struggles early on, the Jets have had a decent passing attack, posting 217.2 yards per game, which ranks 12th in the NFL and will only get better with Adams.
New York has also been solid on defense, holding opponents to just 18 points per game, the seventh-best mark in the league. With more talent on offense, the Jets could be due for a turnaround.
While Adams believes the Raiders are also in a better place without him, fans might beg to differ. Las Vegas is heading into Week 7 sitting at 2-4 with not much hope of things getting better.
Perhaps Adams' trade request looming over them was a distraction, but the Raiders seem to be far from a playoff contender without Adams catching passes.
