NFL Rumors: Chiefs Haven't Been 'Overly Aggressive' in WR Trade Market amid Injuries
In the wake of Davante Adams and Amari Cooper getting traded to other AFC playoff contenders on Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs aren't feeling any pressure to upgrade their receiver room as of right now.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the Chiefs haven't been "overly aggressive" in the receiver market with three weeks to go until the trade deadline, but they will "stay nimble" if the right player becomes available.
The Chiefs are off to a 5-0 start that has masked some of the issues they have, particularly on offense. They rank 15th in the NFL in points per game, which is where they finished last season.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Rashee Rice, who leads the team with 288 receiving yards, is expected to miss the remainder of the season after having LCL surgery. Marquise Brown hasn't appeared in a game due to a shoulder injury that required surgery and could keep him out for the season.
Kansas City did invest some resources into its receiver room during the offseason. Brown was the biggest name of the bunch, but JuJu Smith-Schuster was signed as a free agent and Xavier Worthy was selected with the No. 28 pick in the 2024 draft.
Both Smith-Schuster and Worthy have proven to be valuable additions for the Chiefs thus far. Smith-Schuster leads the team with 16.3 yards per reception. Worthy's four total touchdowns are the most by a Chiefs player through five games.
Even with Adams and Cooper off the board, there are still plenty of potential trade options that could become available before the deadline.
Fowler cited DeAndre Hopkins and Diontae Johnson among the popular names, but noted the sense right now is that neither of their teams are eager to move on from them.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who spent the past two seasons with the Chiefs before being released in March, became a free agent on Tuesday when he was released by the Buffalo Bills after acquiring Cooper.
The Chiefs proved last year they can win with an offense that doesn't look good in the regular season. It's not an ideal way to operate, and could be more difficult this season because they had Rice last year, but their defense has proven to be capable of elevating this team when the offense is struggling to score points.
Kansas City comes out of its bye this week for a Super Bowl rematch with the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium.
