Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Won't Be Active Ahead of 2024 NFL Trade Deadline
Despite a 3-3 start to the season, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn't feel the need to make any major changes.
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Jones said the Cowboys will not be active ahead of the Nov. 5 NFL trade deadline. He also said there would be no changes made to the head coach or coordinator positions.
Jones did recognize that Dallas needs to improve in several areas during practice.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Jones' comments come on the heels of an embarrassing 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The 38-point blowout was the Cowboys' fifth biggest loss in franchise history and was Dallas' second 20-plus-point loss of the season, the other being a 44-19 dismantling from the New Orleans Saints in Week 2.
The Cowboys' 3-3 start is their worst since 2020, when they finished 6-10. That was also the last time Dallas failed to reach the playoffs.
But Jones sees no issues with his current personnel. Instead, he wants to figure things out internally to try to turn the season around.
It starts on the defensive side. The Cowboys have given up the ninth-most yards per game (356.5) and the third-most points per game (28) through six games.
On offense, Dak Prescott has had a decent start to the season following his historic four-year, $240 million extension. He has the third-most passing yards with 1,602 and has also collected eight touchdowns. The main issue has been his six interceptions, four of which have come over the past two games.
The Cowboys as a whole have failed to control the ball as they have posted 11 turnovers, the second-most in the NFL only behind the Las Vegas Raiders.
Many of Dallas' issues are correctable without having to make any moves on the trade market. Whether the Cowboys can fix them will determine whether they can compete in the playoffs.
