Giants HC: Malik Nabers Going to Travis Scott Show amid Concussion to Stay 'In-House'

Adam WellsOct 11, 2024

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll declined to speak publicly about Malik Nabers attending a Travis Scott concert this week while he is still in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Addressing reporters on Friday, Daboll spoke about Nabers' situation after revealing the rookie receiver would miss this week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

"Yeah, I'll keep that all in-house," Daboll replied when asked if he had a problem with Nabers attending the concert.

Videos posted online showed Nabers, who hasn't practiced or played in a game since suffering a concussion in New York's Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, at MetLife Stadium where Scott was performing on Wednesday.

Among the symptoms a person can experience after suffering a concussion are sensitivity to light and noise, two things that would likely be very prevalent at a concert.

USA Today's Art Stapleton did note on Thursday that Nabers has advanced past the stage where he is experiencing symptoms and physical activity is the next step in his progress toward getting back on the field.

Depending on when exactly Nabers advanced beyond experiencing symptoms, attending the concert might not have had any impact on him.

Even though it's not the best look for Nabers to be in that type of setting while dealing with a concussion, it's reasonable to believe he just didn't think about the optics of it in this moment.

This can be deemed a very minor slip up for Nabers in what has otherwise been a fantastic start to his NFL career. Daboll is probably right not to say anything about the situation publicly to risk making it a bigger deal.

As long as Nabers performs on the field for the Giants when he is healthy, no one will care about this situation going forward. They have gotten everything they could have hoped for from the 21-year-old after selecting him with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Despite missing the Giants' Week 5 win over the Seattle Seahawks, Nabers still leads the league with 35 receptions in four games. He also ranks in the top 10 in targets (52), receiving yards (386) and receiving touchdowns (three).

The Giants will host the Bengals on Sunday Night Football this week looking for their second straight victory.
