Josh Allen's Struggles Without Stefon Diggs Called Out by Fans as Texans Beat Bills
The Buffalo Bills' first-half struggles were too much for the team to overcome during a 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.
Despite blowing a 20-3 lead in the second half, the Texans secured a victory after Ka'imi Fairbairn nailed a 59-yard field goal at the end of regulation.
Bills signal-caller Josh Allen struggled to start the contest, completing only one of his first nine pass attempts. He finished just 9-of-30 for 131 yards and a touchdown, adding an additional 54 yards on the ground.
Buffalo had an opportunity to potentially take the lead, starting a drive at the team's own three-yard line with less than a minute remaining. The Bills were unable to get a first down and didn't run out the clock, as Allen threw three straight incomplete passes.
This forced Buffalo to punt the ball back to Houston, giving the Texans enough time to get in position for the final field goal.
Stefon Diggs was sharp against his former team on Sunday. He caught six of his eight targets for a team-high 82 yards. Diggs was dealt from the Bills to the Texans in a blockbuster April trade after spending the previous four seasons in Buffalo.
Fans criticized Allen and the Bills after the loss.
For the Texans, C.J. Stroud finished 28-of-38 for 331 yards and a touchdown to go along with an interception.
After starting the season with a 3-0 record, the Bills have now lost two consecutive games. Meanwhile, the Texans improved to 4-1.
