NFL Rumors: Chiefs, Bills Open to Davante Adams Trade If Raiders Eat Some of Contract
Davante Adams could find his way to a true contender during the 2024 NFL season.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are looking into a move for the All-Pro wide receiver but would need the Las Vegas Raiders to offer some financial help to get a deal done.
"Teams like the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are monitoring the situation and willing to jump in if the Raiders are willing to pay some of Adams' contract," Russini wrote. "They see him as a one-year rental."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Adams is in the third year of his five-year, $140 million contract with the Raiders but there is an "out" in his contract following the 2024 season. That means a team like Kansas City or Buffalo could commit to him for this season but then would not have to be tied to the contract after 2024.
That should be attractive to two teams that are right up against the cap ceiling and have large contracts to their franchise quarterbacks. Per Over The Cap, the Bills have $3.3 million and the Chiefs have $4.7 million in available cap space. Both teams also could use a No. 1 wide receiver.
The Bills traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in the offseason and quarterback Josh Allen has relied on Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid and James Cook to carry the load. Adams would occupy the No. 1 receiver role and could be the presence that helps the Bills finally get over the hump in the AFC.
Kansas City may be even more desperate for a splash after top receiver Rashee Rice landed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Rice is the only Chiefs receiver with more than 200 yards thus far and Adams would pick up some slack for a team that is looking to become the first three-peat champion since the 1965-67 Green Bay Packers.
Russini reported that the Raiders are hoping to get a second-round pick for Adams. Both the Bills and Chiefs have their second-round picks in 2025 and could satisfy the Raiders demands if they were willing to give that selection up for a rental.
